DESCRIPTION
As a Materials Planner II at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll contribute to ensuring efficient flow of materials through our production cycle to enable scientific discoveries. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize inventory levels, manage material requirements planning (MRP), and enhance supply chain effectiveness. This role combines analytical thinking with strategic planning to maintain optimal inventory levels while meeting production demands and customer expectations. You'll apply your expertise to analyze supply chain data, manage vendor relationships, and implement process improvements that support our mission of making the world healthier, cleaner and safer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
•Identifying and analyzing supply chain trends and work closely with Demand Management to reflect those trends in the demand signal.
•Conduct regular shortage inventory analysis to identify slow-moving or obsolete items and recommend appropriate action.
•Escalate to procurement and planning team for any change in purchasing conditions: MOQs, Lead times etc. for timely system maintenance.
•Escalate critical parts and work with planning teams to implement the best strategy to reduce shortages.
•Place POs to suppliers per SAP MRP run and secure approval for Reqs / POs pending.
•Analyze Purchase Req’s to delivery schedule, execute based on Demand / Planning in SAP.
•Manages suppliers’ delivery dates: pull in deliveries and pushouts per SAP signals.
•Keeps information accessible by updating confirmations in SAP and order action messages.
•Prioritize critical parts and expedites to support critical product lines needed for production and order fulfillment.
•Support suppliers for prioritization, and execution by either providing solutions or escalating to cross-functional site team, and Category Managers.
•Monitor receipt of items by comparing items received, delivered to items ordered; resolves shipment errors with suppliers.
Execute rejected material to suppliers in a timely fashion. Ensure strong alignment with suppliers for replacement parts, or new order placement
REQUIREMENTS
•Min 2-3 years experience in Supply Chain / Purchasing / Procurement / Sourcing or equivalent.
•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, information science, business, or related field.
•English proficiency (B2+ level or higher)
•Experience in MRP / ERP systems required (SAP desirable).
•Strong Excel skills, with the ability to analyze data and generate reports.
•Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain supplier relationships.
•Strong collaboration skills in working closely with suppliers across the globe and relevant parties involved.
•Self-starter with ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
