 SUMMARY:  

This position is for the Materials Management Associate Level One (MMI) position at PCI San Diego, Inc. The primary work environment will be in a controlled Warehouse, adherent to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and procedures, working with temperature-controlled materials in equally controlled environments. The ideal employee will support the processes associated with the movement and storage of inventory to other PCI San Diego, Inc. departments and sites. The employee occupying this position, upon completion of training, will have a basic understanding of the receipt, shipment and general storage and movement of GMP materials. Employees will be expected to follow PCI San Diego’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for materials handling and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) when handling internal and external documents.  

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Participation in the management and processing of GMP materials.   

  • Maintains knowledge of required departmental and secondary SOPs and training curriculum.   

  • Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflect positively on the company.   

  • Performs various materials management functions such as receiving incoming materials, inventory control, shipping materials, and internal logistics related tasks such as material transfers.  

  • Compares various documents to identify discrepancies and reconciliations.  

  • Handles various materials within different temperature environments. 

  • Handles various chemicals within controlled settings with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). 

  • Utilizes materials management equipment such as Pallet Jacks, Forklifts, and Narrow-Aisle machinery. 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • High school diploma or GED. 

  • Some Warehouse or inventory experience, preferably in a cGMP environment. 

  • Ability to follow direction with/without supervision. 

  • Ability to work independently, within prescribed guidelines or as a team member. 

  • Experience in utilizing software such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) 

  • Proven track record of problem solving and cross functional teamwork. 

  • Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.

While performing the duties of this role the employee is: 

  • constantly required to sit, and to reach to use computers and other office equipment.  

  • constantly stand or walk for extended periods of time, up to four (4) hours/time. 

  • frequently required to lift up to 25lbs unassisted. 

  • occasionally required to lift over 25lbs with/without assistance. 

  • constantly required to view objects at close and distant ranges with hand and eye coordination. 

  • frequently required to communicate with team members, and internal/external customers. 

  • frequently required to utilize various types of equipment. 

Note: For this summary, occasionally may represent (3-5x) a week. Constantly and frequently should be considered as normally occurring activities throughout the workday. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  

Within the Warehouse environment, employees will routinely experience varying noise levels and interruptions to workflows due to environmental distractions. Employees may also at times be exposed to various chemical substances such as fumes, airborne particles, toxic substances, or bio-hazardous materials within controlled environments using the proper PPE. Employees may be required to work at heights using various types of material handling equipment such as an Order Picker. Employees may be required to occasionally work overtime to complete tasks, projects, or assist in ongoing operations which include early start times, working past end of shift, or weekend work. Employees will be required to comply with all internal procedures and adhere to all applicable industry regulations.

*The hiring rate for this position is $17.75 - $19.40 plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including but not limited to specific and relevant experience, education, credentials, geography, and subject matter expertise.
