Job Summary: THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a MATERIALS HANDLER (Title 32), Position Description Number D1950000 and is part of the IL 182 AW, National Guard.

Major Duties:

  • As a MATERIALS HANDLER (Title 32), WG-6907-5/6, you will perform warehouse inspection, storage, and inventory of a wide variety of supply and equipment items, classified and sensitive items, War Comsumables Distribution Objective (WCDO) items; selecting items to be issued, shipped, or transferred; conducting warehouse validations and inventories; maintaining central locator functions; performing warehouse inspection functions (i.e., shelf life, functional checks); and managing the staging area for delivery of items. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Receive and process notice to stock parts and equipment, verify incoming materiel matches documentation, and coordinate discrepancies. Store in-warehouse supply and equipment items to ensure convenience of handling, ease of movement, and protection from damage, deterioration, or pilferage. Schedule and maintain a surveillance inspection program to ensure assets in central storage remain ready for issue. Conduct periodic inventory validation, perform special inventories, and maintain proper accounting of all in-warehouse assets. Manage unserviceable holding areas, ensure timely disposition, and monitor MDR/QDR items pending instructions. Determine stock arrangement within the general warehousing plan and assign or delete warehouse locations on item records. Inspect all classes of property, including small arms, aircraft parts, motor vehicle parts, construction materials, chemicals, and wood products, to verify condition, identity, security, and classification. Use measuring devices, conversion charts, technical orders, catalogs, stock lists, and FEDLOG to identify materials, determine moisture factors, and validate classification markings. Prepare reports for damaged or deficient conditions and prepare written replies to higher headquarters taskings. Monitor material suspect program, petroleum/chemical materiel, shelf-life items, and functional check items to ensure serviceability and readiness. Interpret technical orders, contract specifications, manufacturers' catalogs, and other references to properly identify, classify, and evaluate materiel. Coordinate with responsible agencies, QA, and Bioenvironmental Health to determine serviceability, ensure hazard identification, and meet TCTO requirements. Assign appropriate condition codes to incomplete items, affix tags, and initiate requests for components needed to restore serviceable condition. Interpret demilitarization guidance, assign demilitarization codes, prepare documentation, and coordinate turn-ins or disposal actions. Assist in formulating written policies and procedures to ensure proper management, security, and control of all supplies and equipment in storage. Handle, store, and safeguard classified, sensitive, hazardous, ESD, petroleum, chemical, and shelf-life items in accordance with applicable technical orders and safety publications. Ensure required tags, labels, markings, and technical data remain properly affixed during storage, retagging, and inspection activities. Identify and control hazardous items and ensure they are properly documented on item records in coordination with Bioenvironmental Health. Manage Precious Metals Recovery Program (PRMP) items in accordance with regulatory requirements and accountability standards. Perform safe issue and transfer of items, including classified property, ensuring receipt by authorized individuals and compliance with handling requirements.

Qualifications: AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence: The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees. The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible. The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership. The FIFTH area of consideration will be U.S. Citizens. Military Grades: Enlisted Only - May not exceed the rank of TSgt. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-06 Level - MUST possess specialized experience which includes experience or training in receiving, packaging, and preparation for shipment. Experience in compiling reports, overall warehouse planning, documentation requirements, and accepted warehousing methods, procedures, and techniques. Experience in setting up and rotating storage locations considering factors such as life expectancy, available space, product turnover, etc. WG-05 Level - MUST possess specialized experience which includes experience or training demonstrating the ability to store, organize and/or rotate a variety of bin and bulk supplies, materials, equipment, and commodities. Familiar with basic warehouse procedures. Experience in determining quantities of inventory items. Experience in following oral and written instructions.
