Job Summary: Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! Major Duties:

  • Performs a variety of duties in connection with receiving, storing, issuing and shipping, etc. within a warehouse area. Receives and unloads incoming merchandise deliveries. Opens, inspects, counts, marks, unpacks, segregates and/or tags items. Verifies items against appropriate documentation to ensure correct items and quantities have been received; checks cost and retail prices; reports shortages, overages, damaged items, or any other discrepancies noted to supervisor. May sign for merchandise received. Warehouses stock according to specified locations. Periodically checks labels or bins for location accuracy; corrects or notifies supervisor of problems. May be assigned a specific area for the performance of this function. Pulls merchandise in accordance with established procedures for shipment, transfers, or customer orders as applicable and directed by system or supervisor, verifying information shown on respective documents against information on merchandise or labels. May provide assistance in the Trouble Freight area performing limited tasks in connection with receipt, storing, and shipping of over shipped, not on PO and/or damaged merchandise. Prepares vendor credits/surveys and return to vendor (RTV) and processing same following established procedures. Performs periodic inventories as required. Assists supervisor with inventory preparation. Performs basic housekeeping duties to maintain stock areas clean and orderly. May operate material handling equipment (MHE) up to 10,000 pounds as high as 30' to move, load or unload, transfer, transport, stack or unstack merchandise, materials and supplies from one location to another. May use automated material identification equipment such as RF devices, computer terminals, and laser scanners to select storage locations of items being shipped or received. Uses common hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, and pliers. May operate government vehicles up to 10,000 lbs gross vehicle weight. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of the general warehouse layout, item identification codes, basic warehouse procedures, and storage areas in order to place, pull, move, arrange, and rotate items per established procedures. Ability to complete appropriate forms relating to stock descriptions, quantity, unit of issue, and labeling requirements for incoming and outgoing materials. Ability to use a computer terminal. Skill in the use of material handling equipment (MHE) and common hand tools. Ability to identify obvious damage to materials through visual inspections. Responsibility: Works under guidance of a supervisor or higher graded worker who provides general instruction on repetitive assignments and specific guidance, including written instructions on new operations or procedures. Observes safety procedures for various equipment. Work is periodically spot-checked. Physical Effort: Stands on hard surfaces for extended periods of time. Bends, stoops, and works in tiring and sometime uncomfortable positions. Climbs ladders to pull stock, stock shelves and bins. Uses sharp instrument to break open boxes. Lifts and carries objects up to 45 lbs. independently and objects over 45 lbs. with assistance. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside or outside in in close quarters in storage areas or bin aisles, ramps, or on platforms that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty and poorly lighted. Exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, etc., and injury from falling stock. Must wear issued protective gear.
