Idaho Power — located in vibrant Twin Falls, Idaho — is looking for a Materials Handler to join our Corporate Services & Communications team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does a Materials Handler do for us?

The Materials Handler, with limited supervision, receives, stores, retrieves, and issues electrical utility materials, tools, supplies, and equipment. They use a computerized Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to accurately record all materials movement transactions. They develop and maintain indoor and outdoor storage areas; maintains organization, cleanliness and 5S Standards within facility and daily workspace; and ensures a safe working environment through regular safety inspections and cleaning and maintenance of all storage and work areas and equipment. They must work in a team-oriented environment with high focus on customer satisfaction. Work is performed in both a warehouse and yard environment, which involves working with chemicals, equipment, hand and power tools, and material that requires special handling, storage, and packaging due to exposure to potential environmental and safety hazards.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

Knowledge of:

  • Proper and safe handling, loading/unloading, moving, storing, and shipping of materials
  • Safe use of hand tools and equipment
  • ERP system experience
  • General warehousing including 5S Lean standards

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED.

Experience:

  • 3 years of materials handling experience including forklift utilization and inventory management software system experience

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Card or ability to obtain prior to hire
  • Current DOT FMCSA 49 CFR Part 383 Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or have the ability to attain within 120 days of hire
  • Must obtain First Aid/CPR card and Idaho Power forklift certification within 30 days
    • Forklift certification requirements include rough terrain and counterbalance certifications

Preferred:

  • 3 years materials handling experience in a warehouse or utility environment
  • DOT Medical Card, Class A CDL at time of hire
  • Idaho Power certification to operate forklifts and manlifts, First Aid/CPR card, or DOT PHMSA 49 CFR Part 172 hazardous materials training at time of hire


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires bending, squatting, crouching, kneeling, reaching and occasional crawling or lying on ground to handle material and or inspect/operate forklift. The position also sorts and retrieves material to fill orders requiring frequent floor to waist lifting of up to 60 lbs. Items are collected onto a cart that requires up to 150 lbs. of push/pull initiation force. This job also includes material collection and placement in to totes for order fulfillment, transfers, and staging. A step ladder is used for higher placed items. Two-person team lifts are required for material or containers that can weigh up to 200 lbs. Job placement is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical evaluation, the DOT medical certificate exam. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Complete DOT PHMSA 49 CFR Part 172 required hazardous materials employee training. Depending on location, must pass an Alcohol Tobacco Firearms (ATF) 27 CFR Part 555 background check and be authorized as an Employee Possessor under IPC’s permit to handle explosives. Additional safety related training as required.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Requires limited overnight travel to other facilities within the Company warehouse network and be available for after-hours on call emergency response.

Job requires the employee to attend required safety trainings and to obtain and wear company provided and approved safety footwear and PPE.
