Job Summary: About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler (FLO/HAZMAT) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties which includes identifying a wide variety of compressed gases received prior to turn-in to stock or to salvage by researching supply manuals, technical manuals (TM's), parts lists, drawings, and shop project orders. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading) Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) Physical Efforts: Incumbent is routinely required to handle cylinders to place on pallets according to order request. Upon pre-receiving, receiving and releasing/manifesting operations, necessitating considerable kneeling, crawling, bending, walking, and stooping. Physical handling of Gas Cylinders will be routine. Incumbent must be able to lift gas cylinders weighing up to 50 pounds and shift/relocate other materials using appropriate material handling equipment. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside for long durations through breaks, etc. as necessary to complete immediate tasks. Inside work is performed in warehouse, which may be drafty or unheated. Outside work is subject to inclement weather. Discomfort is experienced while wearing protective clothing, respirators, goggles or facemask. Worker may be exposed to hazardous vapors, liquids, powders, and solids and possibly cuts and bruises. May be subject to hazards of working close to moving equipment, (e.g., forklifts, trucks, conveyor lines).
