Major Duties:
Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-6900 Warehousing and stock Handling Group . Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge gained from a minimum of two of experience of requisitioning, managing, warehousing, property reutilization, disposal procedures and plans, computerized listings/programs, and demilitarization procedures of a wide range of aircraft maintenance materials, training equipment items, technical training components, parts, and supplies. 2. Knowledge of supply regulations, policies, procedures and techniques. 3. Knowledge of cargo handling, hauling, techniques for securing and protecting cargo and the ability to perform in the close proximity of dangerous and unpredictable industrial fabrication equipment operations. 4. Knowledge of traffic and safety regulations, practices, and procedures pertaining to motor vehicle operation. 5. Skill in operating one or more gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles and lifting equipment with a load capacity of less than 10,000 pounds, such as lift trucks, half ton trucks, stake trucks. 6. Skill in using a wide variety of shop tools, powered equipment, measuring and testing devices and test instrument to identify and disassemble equipment when necessary and identify and process many items requiring special handling, such as strategic and precious metals, hazardous materials, and electronic equipment by performing inspections while employing appropriate safety procedures. Ability to interpret and apply technical manuals, drawings, blueprints, operating manuals/instructions, and complex equipment and subjective materials specifications when examining, identifying, verifying, processing and preparing, incoming and outgoing materials and equipment through the fabrication process. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing well enough that information can be transferred or used without changes or detailed review. Physical Demands: The work requires moderate to heavy lifting when moving material by hand or hand truck; walking and standing for prolonged periods of time; and bending, stooping, and pushing and pulling heavy material along production lines. Work requires reaching, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls. Work Environment: Work is performed inside in a warehouse and fabrication shop environment and outside in containment areas on year-round basis. Subject to cuts, bruises, abrasions, and scrapes in moving or handling materials and equipment and to hazards involved in working in proximity to moving equipment such as fork lifts, trucks, cranes, and pallet lifting equipment. Operates vehicles in all kinds of weather and primarily on the installation. Drivers are exposed to dirt,fumes, and to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents when loading and unloadingthe vehicle. When handling hazardous materials, protective equipment is provided. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
