What this job involves
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Material Handling Technician to join our team. As a Specialist in Material Handling, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently handling materials, equipment, and supplies in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Your strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and proficiency in material handling techniques will contribute to the smooth operations of our facility.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Receive, inspect, and document incoming materials and supplies according to established procedures
Safely operate various material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, to move and transport materials within the facility
Utilize inventory management systems to track and record material movements and maintain accurate inventory records
Organize and maintain materials in designated storage areas, ensuring proper labeling, segregation, and adherence to first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory principles
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate efficient and timely delivery of materials to production areas as per production schedules
Perform routine inspections and maintenance of material handling equipment, ensuring their proper functioning and reporting any maintenance or repair needs to the supervisor
Adhere to safety guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to maintain a safe and compliant work environment
Assist in the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to enhance material handling processes and optimize the flow of materials
Identify and report any discrepancies in material quantities, quality, or documentation to appropriate personnel for resolution
Comply with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including those related to safety, quality, and environmental standards
The operator will be responsible for ERP reconciliation and data entry for completion of disposal forms to document our cradle-to-grave responsibility to our clients and regulators
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Must attain RCRA/DOT and HazWopper training
Proficient in inventory management systems and computer applications utilized in material handling operations
Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as required in a warehouse environment
Ability to operate heavy equipment, such as fork trucks/lifts, motorized ride-on pallet jacks, reach trucks
Possess and valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical or vocational certifications in material handling or logistics preferred
Minimum of 2 years of experience in material handling or warehouse operations, preferably in a pharmaceutical or life sciences industry
Knowledge of safety regulations, SOPs, and GMP guidelines related to material handling and warehouse operations
Valid forklift operator certification and proven experience operating various material handling equipment
RCRA certification, HazWoper training, and DOT certification
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Other Qualifications:
Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and clearly convey information
Excellent organizational skills to effectively manage and arrange materials in storage areas
Work Schedule: Weekend shift - 10 hours, Friday/Saturday/Sunday/Monday, 9:00 AM - 7:30 PM with 5% shift differential
Salary/ Comp: 19.00 - $19.71 USD Hourly
