The Material Handler position is responsible for performing, shipping, and receiving activities while providing exemplary customer service and delivering high quality services.

General Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to other functional areas (receiving, shipping) as required.

  • Interface on a daily basis with Quality Control, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Accounting, Customer Service, parcel shippers and other stakeholders.

  • Performs other duties as may be required by management.

  • Perform a combination of manual and clerical duties in support of material operations.

  • Uses ERP/MRP system for tracking, logging, verifying and reporting.

  • Enter all transactions and inventory records into the appropriate business systems.

  • Maintain inventory accuracy.

  • Interface with Quality Control, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and other stakeholders.

  • Perform receiving and shipping operations.

  • Ensure compliance to purchase and sales order requirements.

Receiving

  • Performs a combination of manual and clerical duties in receiving materials, supplies, and equipment.

  • Unpacks and examines items received and verified completeness against bills of lading, invoices, and other records; tracks records of goods received; rejects damaged, excess, or misdirected goods and processes necessary paperwork to notify appropriate purchasing, material, vendor, and other concerned organizational personnel; routes materials to inspection, stores, or other destinations; and operates mobile equipment used to move materials.

  • Responds to inquiries concerning status of rejected or other goods.

  • Responsible for the coordination of all receiving activities.

  • Receives production (inventory) material, verifies receivers against order, confirms component count and ensures compliance to purchase order requirements.

  • Processes/receives all non-PO delivered and provides notifications to concerned parties via e-mail or through other communication channels.

  • Processes returned goods and return to vendor orders.

Shipping

  • Performs a combination of manual and clerical duties in shipping materials, supplies, and equipment.

  • Verifies identification and count of material to be shipped; wraps or packs materials according to specifications or knowledge of shipping practices/procedures, material characteristics, transportation media, and routes; prepares bills of lading and maintains records of materials shipped; stamps, stencils, or attaches identifying information and shipping instructions on containers; posts weight and shipping charges and maintains shipping files; and operates mobile equipment used to move materials.

  • Ensures shipments are accurate, complete and comply with company procedures.

  • Ensures product shipments are made within the requested timeframes.

  • Enter transactions and inventory records into the appropriate business systems.

  • Coordinate with outside shippers (FedEx, DHL).

  • Complies with international shipping requirements, ensuring all appropriate documentation is accurate and included with the shipment.

Skills and Experience

  • Ability to work flexible hours including evening hours

  • Proficient with MSOffice (MS Excel, Outlook, MS Word).

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Initiative, self-reliance and professionalism.

  • Independent, able to work with minimal supervision.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, manufacturing and/or a shipping distribution environment.

  • Experience in a medical or electronics manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in receiving/shipping activities.

Education

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

Pay Transparency

  • A reasonable estimate of the hourly rate for this position is $18 – $23/per hour.
