Job Title: Material Handler – Warehouse

The Thermo Fisher Scientific site in Inchinnan, Paisley is a key production and distribution center in the UK, specializing in biotechnology products and fully compliant with GMP standards.

 

Position Objective
Work as part of a dynamic team in a busy warehouse, handling all aspects of material management including receiving, picking, packing, and shipping customer orders within tight deadlines, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in all warehouse activities.
  • Actively participate in the Practical Improvement Program (PPI) and 5S methodologies to drive process optimization.
  • Safely operate warehouse equipment such as counterbalance and reach trucks (valid licenses required).
  • Use in-house software systems for daily picking, packing, and shipping tasks.
  • Maintain accurate regulatory records to ensure GMP compliance and traceability.
  • Conduct in-process checks to maintain quality standards.
  • Operate and maintain mechanical equipment efficiently.
  • Perform all tasks safely and efficiently, following safety protocols.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in the warehouse.
  • Adapt to changes in processes or procedures within a continuous improvement environment.

 

Education & Skills

  • Secondary school education (High School equivalent).
  • Experience with powered industrial trucks (reach truck, order picker) preferred.
  • Basic computer literacy (PC and data entry).
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

 

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in distribution, logistics, warehouse, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Experience with powered industrial trucks is a plus.
  • Ability to use computer systems for order management.

Working Conditions

  • Work in refrigerated areas (+4 °C) and freezers (-20 °C) for extended periods.
  • Repetitive tasks: standing, walking, lifting up to 25 kg.
  • Fast-paced warehouse environment requiring precision and efficiency.
