At our plant in Rochester (NY) we are currently have an exciting opportunity open for a Material Handler II to work onsite. In this role you will verify and maintain records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepare items for shipment. Duties include assembling, addressing, stamping, and shipping merchandise or material; receiving, unpacking, verifying and recording incoming merchandise or material; and arranging for the transportation of products.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Load and unload trailers using a forklift, including bulk tank cars and trucks.
  • Verify incoming and outgoing shipments by comparing contents with manifests, invoices, and orders to ensure accuracy.
  • Receive, unpack, inspect, and record incoming materials or merchandise.
  • Prepare shipments by assembling, packing, sealing, labeling, and applying appropriate documentation or postage.
  • Generate and process shipping documents such as bills of lading, work orders, and shipping orders.
  • Record and maintain accurate shipment data, including weight, charges, damages, discrepancies, and space availability.
  • Utilize barcode systems, scanning equipment, and related technology for tracking and inventory control.
  • Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies; requisition stock as needed.
  • Perform inventory transactions, including cycle counts and reconciliation of discrepancies.
  • Repack materials as required to ensure safe and compliant shipment.
  • Conduct periodic safety inspections and report hazards or issues.
  • Enter and track work requests for equipment repair and facility maintenance.
  • Generate labels and associated shipping paperwork accurately and efficiently.
  • Prepare, handle, and load hazardous waste shipments in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in daily team meetings and contribute to operational updates and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate and troubleshoot basic equipment
  • Experience using warehouse technology, tools, and material handling equipment
  • Proficiency with SAP for inventory tracking and order processing
  • Certified forklift operator with hands-on experience
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications

The expected salary range for this role is $21.20hr $25.91hr; specific employee compensation may vary depending on factors including experience, education, training, licensure, certification, location and other job-related, non-discriminatory factors permitted by law.
