Job Description

Objective of the Role

As a Material Handler Distribution at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you play a crucial role in ensuring our customers receive their orders flawlessly and on time. This role is essential for handling both picking and inbound tasks within our world-class European Distribution Center (EDC).

Job and Position Context

The EDC in Bleiswijk is our premier hub for distributing products across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. We handle a vast inventory from global suppliers, maintaining a strict adherence to ISO9001 and GDP certifications, and proudly achieving a Thermo Fisher Zero Waste status.

Key Areas of Accountability/Responsibility

For Picking:

  • Ensure orders are selected using hand scanners, working within various temperature zones.
  • Accurately pick and handle products to meet customer quality expectations.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness in the department, preparing materials for the next day.
  • Perform visual checks for damage and ensure items remain in accurate temperatures.
  • Achieve quality standard benchmarks and report any deviations to operational leads.

For Inbound:

  • Retrieve and store shipments accurately, ensuring quality and inventory accuracy.
  • Unpack shipments and check for SKU, lot number, and damage.
  • Maintain temperature control for shipments and follow quality management procedures.
  • Register and log inbound activities, ensuring accurate system transactions.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, especially when handling hazardous materials.

Authorities

  • Authorized to operate warehouse trucks after completing required training and exams.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and complete tasks efficiently.

Job Complexity

  • Navigate complex systems and processes, including SAP and WMS.
  • Work in varied temperature environments and handle hazardous materials.
  • Maintain high accuracy and performance under pressure.

Knowledge and Educational Level

  • Minimum MBO-2 level or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in English and Dutch, with strong communication skills.

Required Level of Experience

  • Relevant experience in warehouse operations preferred.

Proficiencies

  • Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Physical capability for standing and handling items throughout the day.
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and flexibility.
