Job Description

1.0       PURPOSE:  

To detail specific tasks and responsibilities for the position of MATERIAL HANDLER in order for those persons holding this position to perform their job as safely, effectively, and efficiently as possible.

2.0       SCOPE:  

This document is used from date of hire throughout training and as a reference for the Material Handler for tasks to be completed.  This document is not all inclusive.

3.0        RESPONSIBILITIES:

               3.1                  Responsible for the safety of yourself, your co-workers, and the environment. 

               3.2                  Identify and report safety concerns through near misses and observations. 

               3.3     Always strive for zero waste, zero litter, and involvement in the recycling program. 

               3.4                Responsible for the quality of all processes and products that you encounter.

               3.5       Be knowledgeable and fulfill all customer requirements.

               3.6             Identify and report all quality concerns through to any supervisor or quality technician.

               3.7       Be actively engaged in safety and quality programs.

               3.8       Responsible for developing a safe and friendly work environment.

               3.9       Business requirements           

3.9.1 Follow all ISO, GMP, and Food Safety requirements and standard operating           procedures.

3.9.2 Maintain a clean working area in all Material Handler areas.

3.10 Material Control

                                3.10.1 Assists in breaking down empty gaylords, and maintains baler.

                                       

4.0        OTHER DUTIES, AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

               4.1        Possesses job authority as defined in WOODWI-00202

4.2       Performs other functions as necessary or as assigned.

               4.3       Assists in maintaining silos and cleaning. 

4.4       Report damages and unsafe conditions. 

               4.5           Assist other Material Handlers as needed or directed by Warehouse Manager.  

5.0        QUALIFICATIONS:

               5.1       Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers.

               5.2        Moderate organizational skills including the ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.

               5.3        Ability to read Standard English text for requirements on packlist.

               5.4           Communicate with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.

               5.5     Perform effectively in environments with frequent workload changes and competing demands.

               5.6                   Able to use simple math to add, subtract, multiply, and divide to determine material calculations.

               5.7        Make appropriate job decisions following standard policies and past precedents.

5.8       Verbal communication adequate to use a radio and or paging system to contact other co  workers in other areas of the complex.

                 5.9      Recognize an emergency situation and take appropriate action.

               5.10     Ability to stand and walk for minimum of 7 hours during an 8 hour shift.

               5.11 Hearing sufficient to recognize and respond to shouted warnings, alarms, and horns on fork-lifts.

5.12      Proficient skill in JDE

5.13     Able to frequently lift, push, and pull loads of no more than 35 lbs. without the use of an        assisting device.

5.14     Ability to safely operate a fork-lift in high traffic, low clearance areas while not posing a safety  risk to others.  

5.15     Able to climb ladders and steps safely without assistance. Must not be at risk of sudden  alterations in consciousness.
