Material Control/Steel Shop Supervisor

Summary of Primary Functions: Directs and coordinate activities of steel shop department in processing materials or manufacturing products in industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 

  • Reviews production orders/BOMs or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan steel shop operations.
  • Plans steel shop operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
  • Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
  • Reviews production and operating reports resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
  • Inspects machines and equipment within the steel shop to ensure specific operational performances and optimum utilization.
  • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Submits worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to Support Supervisor for actions
  • Has daily contact with fellow employees, management, customers and vendors
  • Supervise Steel Shop employees)


Job Specations or Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or GED is required.

Experience: 3 – 5 (+) years of experience is required with 1 – 2 (+) years of supervisory experience required.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is daily exposed to adverse working conditions in the plant and when visiting job sites and will be exposed to dirt, noise, heat, cold, or fumes. 8-10 hours/week.
