What you will do 

You will oversee the daily operations of the piece-parts area, ensuring accurate inventory management, timely material availability, and efficient workflow to support production schedules. You will also be responsible for supervising material handlers, coordinating with planning, purchasing, and production teams, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to maintain operational excellence.

How you will do it

Inventory Management & Accuracy

  • Ensure accurate receipt, storage, picking, and issuance of piece parts.

  • Maintain inventory integrity through daily audits, cycle counts, and variance analysis. Investigate and resolve transactional errors in ERP systems.

  • Support achievement of DIOH and inventory turn targets.

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise and develop team members, including training, coaching, and performance feedback.

  • Assign daily tasks and priorities based on production schedules and staffing levels.

  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure adherence to all SOPs, work instructions, and quality standards.

Production Support

  • Ensure timely and accurate staging of materials to support work orders and production flow.

  • Collaborate with schedulers, planners, and buyers to prevent material shortages and delays.

  • Monitor piece-parts availability and proactively identify at-risk items.

Process & Systems Management

  • Ensure proper use of scanners, barcoding systems, and material tracking tools.

  • Maintain 5S standards in all material storage and handling areas.

  • Identify and lead process improvements around receiving, put-away, kitting, and replenishment.

  • Support Kaizen, Lean, and continuous improvement events.

Compliance & Safety

  • Enforce compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations.

  • Ensure material handling equipment is operated safely.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and audit readiness.

What we look for

Required:

  • 3–5 years of experience in materials, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing operations.

  • Strong understanding of inventory control processes and ERP systems.

  • Ability to analyze data, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred:

  • Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred.

  • Experience with Lean, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Familiarity with JDE or similar ERP environments.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing scheduling, kitting processes, and material flow optimization.

Forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification).

Performance Metrics

  • Inventory accuracy percentage

  • Cycle count performance and variance reduction

  • DIOH improvement and material availability

  • Schedule adherence and work order support accuracy

  • Safety compliance and incident reduction

  • Team productivity and engagement

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $71,000 - 81,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
