Your tasks and responsibilities

At the moment, we have several topics available related to structural analyses of satellites, instruments and mechanisms, which will be discussed with the candidates during the selection process. Doing your final year project with us involves performing several of the following tasks:

  • Create Finite Element (FE) Models of satellite structures, instruments and components. FE models have to be compliant to department standards and good practices

  • Conduct static and dynamic, linear and nonlinear structural analyses

  • Perform structural assessments by means of hand calculations

  • (Further-)develop tools in Excel or Matlab for the automatization of analysis pre-/ postprocessing tasks

  • Understand and prepare technical documentation in English or German

 Desired skills and qualifications

  • Enrolled Master student (d/f/m) within aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or similar

  • Good understanding of structural dynamics and first experience in structural analyses with the finite element method

  • Good knowledge and experience working with MS Office (including Excel), Nastran and Hyperworks (in particular Hypermesh and Hyperview), and Matlab

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Good knowledge and experience in tool development would be a plus

  • Fluent English mandatory

  • German would be an asset

  • Good communication skills required
