The opportunity

We are looking for a student intern (master level) or master thesis worker on GPU Accelerated Power System Simulation. The student will focus on implementing and testing innovative numerical algorithms to support accelerations of large-scale power system simulations. The student will join our Hitachi Energy Research team of Grid Management and Optimization in Mannheim, Germany. 

 

How you'll make an impact

  • Literature Review on GPU acceleration of numerical methods 

  • Further develop existing tools for power flow analysis 

  • Implement numerical algorithms in Cuda / C++ 

  • Perform benchmarking tests 

  • Document and present findings 

 Your background

  • Studying computer science, mathematics, electrical engineering or related field 

  • Good programming skills C++ and / or Cuda / python for fast prototyping 

  • Preferably experience with scientific computing, numerical algorithms, profiling tools 

  • Ability to work in a team and have strong team spirit
