Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

If so, The Iowa Master Gardener program with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is currently seeking applicants for a Program Assistant II position!
What You'll Do:
Editing video subtitles for distribution on public channels
Coordinating monthly volunteer recognition material order process and distribution to county office staff
Assist in planning social media strategy and creation of social media content
Managing Master Gardener email account, including responding to volunteers and clients and routing messages as appropriate
Editing a variety of documents including newsletter, flyers, etc. for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors
Responding to VRS (Volunteer Reporting System) user support tickets and escalating tickets as appropriate
Managing website event calendar and general content updates as needed
Providing administrative support leading up to in-person conferences and events
Attending monthly statewide Zoom meetings and providing administrative support for those meetings
Assist in updating educational curriculum and supporting students in Moodle
Support and coordinate activities for the Iowa Donation Garden Network
This is a fixed term position with an end date of 6/30/2027 with the opportunity for renewal.

• Career-level position demonstrating proficiency and knowledge of related competencies
• Works under direct to general supervision and may receive guidance on more complex assignments
• Follows established procedures for work assignments, and completes assignments which are semi-routine and may be atypical in nature
• Applies thorough knowledge to respond to inquiries and requests
• Able to resolve most problems and issues and respond to requests without escalation
• Provides guidance to students
• May provide supervision to one to two other staff or lead a small work team
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience providing administrative support
Experience managing content for websites, social media, etc.
Knowledge or education in horticulture-related field
Experience using creative software such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva
Familiarity with learning management systems such as Canvas, Moodle, or similar programs
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
