About the role
The main objective of the Mass Market Sales Manager is to drive profitable sales growth through value creation, this person will be focused on and deliver real value by identifying the areas where we can get most impact in market, like channel strategy, POS execution and capability development.
Development and execution of sales strategy in Mass Market Trade Channel to achieve distribution, visibility and sales objectives aligned with BU initiatives and local needs.
Ensure effective brands support in the trade and excellence in POS execution leading to increased HALEON market shares.
Develop the Sales Team Capabilities to ensure they can manage properly the customers at all levels: P&L, Promo Plan, taylor made activities, NRM, Annual Agreements, International negotiations.
Ensure HALEON business targets delivery by a motivated and engaged Mass Market Sales Team, having the right people in the right place.
This role ensures brilliant execution, strong customer partnerships, and alignment with Haleon’s purpose of delivering everyday health with humanity.
Key Responsibilities
Understanding, prioritizing and selecting the best channels and customers and defining the strategies and tactics to achieve our goals within them. Defining the optimum route to market to efficiently and effectively make our products available to shoppers.
Ensuring we get the best return for our trade investment (Gross to Net) and are driving appropriate pricing leverage through our trade terms and promotion investment
Define commercial approach/policy (Trade Terms) and monitor implementation throughout the year ensuring channel P&L.
Working with customers to optimise category performance and achieve winning distribution, right range and assortment, merchandising and in-store shopper initiatives.
Ensuring effective management and engagement with our key accounts to plan, build and execute in-store against mutually agreed priorities ensuring continued review through KPI measurement.
Select and attract people, train and motivate to constantly attain high standards of performance. Inspire and engage teams to drive growth while upgrading capabilities and fostering talent development.
Active member of the Leadership Team, providing transparent and timely input on market situation, competition activities and Haleon’s performance as necessary
Comply with Haleon policy and legislation. Ensure proper communication and adherence to the sales team.
Support Finance and actively managing customer relationship assuring a healthy DSO at customer agreed levels through a structured monthly review process
Qualifications and skills
University degree in economics or business administration. An MBA will be considered a plus.
High English Level, Portuguese native.
+8 years of experience as a sales management and key account mgt experience in FMCG. Preferably already National Account Manager, Sales mgr or senior Key Account manager.
Knowledge of current local customers.
Awareness of commercial landscape and levers beyond Sales, contributing to growth and performance.
Identifying penetrating and actionable insights. Ability to identify opportunities and execute effectively for competitive advantage.
Strategic Planning, developing an inspiring vision and medium-long term plan
Selling and negotiation, leveraging customer/expert understanding to develop and agree solutions that reach agreed goals.
Category Development, working in a win-win partnership with key customers and experts to drive sales and profit in the category by satisfying consumer and shopper needs
Customer Business Planning. Leveraging customer/shopper understanding to develop insight-led joint business plans that deliver a step-change in category performance
Executional Excellence. Delivering world class execution of the customer business plan to achieve brand/category growth
Commercial Excellence: Applying rigorous commercial principles and embed NRM to guide and support decisions so that they are profitable and deliver return on investment.
Build trusting relationships internally and externally.
