JOB MISSION:
As a Marketplace Buyer, you will lead the marketplace strategy for New Balance by curating seasonal assortments, managing inventory, and driving data-informed buying decisions. Your mission is to optimize product visibility, pricing, and promotions across online platforms, ensuring seamless launches and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance sales, profitability, and brand presence.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Product Assortment: Curate and develop a well-balanced seasonal assortment that meets with the brand strategy and market trends, while establishing a balanced price structure and model mix on designated marketplaces that align with New Balance’s brand standards.
Buying: Responsible for collect data from partners to forecast demand on SKU level, ensuring styles are covered in depth and width to backfill and extend ranges in Partner Program. Aligning buy volumes with sales trend and market demand.
Market research: Conduct market research to stay informed about consumer preferences, emerging trends, and competitive offering, while ensuring brand protection and finding opportunities for assortment optimization and strategic growth within our partners.
Inventory Management: Collaborate with the Planning team to maintain appropriate stock levels throughout the season. Ensure timely replenishment of products on marketplaces at end-of-season transitions to meet customer demand. Supervise inventory turnover, sell-through rates, and make data-driven decisions to manage stock levels optimally. Proactively address stockouts or overstocks considering full DTC channels and our profitability.
Sales Analysis: Regularly analyse sales performance identifying areas of growth and improvement. Use sales data to make informed decisions about product assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies.
Seasonal Planning: Plan and complete seasonal product launches, ensuring that new collections are well-timed, well-stocked, adequately promoted in coordination with brand guidelines and partners’ plans.
Working closely with the Channel Merchandising team, providing relevant in-season and pre-season feedback covering product performance, customer preferences, market demand and future opportunities.
Cross-Functional Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with colleagues and stakeholders such as planning, retail and digital marketing, ecommerce, marketplace, allocation, operations and demand planning to ensure seamless execution of merchandising strategies.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Participate in budget planning and forecasting for the marketplace channel, ensuring that financial goals are met, and profitability is increased.
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:
Proven years of experience in similar role in merchandising/buying or product role.
Passion for product and aware of trends.
Clear understanding of DTC performance measures, marketing activations, and retail/digital world.
Sound business and commercial competence.
Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
Team player with strong communication skills and the ability to network and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
Strong analytical skills.
Solid understanding of Microsoft Office.
