Marketing – Student SEO and Web Marketing Specialist (NFWS)

Position Summary/Purpose:  

The Student SEO and Web Marketing Specialist supports the SEO team within the Digital Marketing Department by assisting with a variety of SEO and digital marketing tasks that help maintain, optimize, and improve website performance. This position provides hands-on experience in digital marketing operations, including SEO strategy execution, website management, and content optimization. Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities/Essential Functions:  

  • Work alongside experienced marketing professionals in a collaborative environment that values curiosity, creativity, and continual learning! 

  • Conduct SEO keyword research for YouTube videos and web content to support optimization strategies. 

  • Open new projects and assign tasks to SEO team members within project management systems. 

  • Edit and update website pages in Drupal, including copy updates, image replacement and resizing, and other page-builder updates. 

  • Identify internal linking opportunities by analyzing existing site pages to enhance SEO and user navigation. 

  • Push website pages live by following established processes—this includes completing review edits, setting up redirects, updating tracking information, and submitting pages for indexing through tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and Conductor. 

  • Support testing and optimization initiatives by setting up experiments and tracking performance metrics. 

  • Assist with general project management activities such as submitting deliverables, reviewing tasks, and ensuring project steps are completed accurately and on time. 

  • Collaborate with SEO and marketing team members to ensure quality assurance and timely completion of digital marketing initiatives. 

  • Special projects as assigned

MacBook Pro (provided by IT) – Password-protected device to be guarded whenever not in use for the position

Qualifications:  

  • Current GCU students enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in marketing, business, communications, web design and/or similar concentrations 

  • Familiarity with SEO concepts, such as keyword research, internal linking, and on-page optimization 

  • Experience working in a content management system (CMS), preferably Drupal 

  • An eye for web aesthetics and content presentation 

  • Comfortable learning digital tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Conductor, and SEOTesting 

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented attitude 

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow established processes accurately 

  • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and grow within a fast-paced digital marketing environment 

 

Experience/Education Eligibility: 

Grand Canyon Education is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment: 

  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a bachelor’s program or master’s program 

  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a bachelor-level student or a 3.0 GPA as a master-level student 

  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University

Pay Rate: Minimum Wage
