Department Overview
You will be responsible for the marketing of "Rakuten Mart," an online supermarket that handles fresh food and daily necessities.
- Mission within the Business:
By leveraging Rakuten's data sources, you will formulate mid-to-long-term marketing strategies and plan and execute short-term promotional measures to acquire and nurture customers.
- Mart Planning & Marketing Section, Promotion Execution Group:
We are seeking a highly motivated and versatile Marketing Specialist to join our lean and agile team. In this role, you will be responsible for leveraging all available marketing channels to formulate and execute user acquisition and retention plans, ultimately aiming to achieve sales targets.
Given our small and dynamic team, you will be involved in a wide range of marketing activities, from strategic planning to the establishment of operational frameworks. This includes comprehensive engagement in the entire PDCA cycle for our marketing initiatives.

- Rakuten Mart Service Area and Delivery Methods
We cover 12 million households in the greater Tokyo area, shipping from two automated warehouses. We have built an efficient H&S-type delivery network, enabling same-day delivery and temperature control of products. Furthermore, our state-of-the-art automated warehouses reduce walking time during product searches and product verification work, enabling highly efficient operations.
Position Details
Develop and execute comprehensive promotion and retention plans for user acquisition. This primarily involves two main areas:
1. Acquiring new users
2. Increasing usage frequency among existing users
Promotional activities will be tailored specifically to each user segment
- Plan and execute user acquisition promotions
Collaborate closely with other business units and external media partners to conceptualize and implement promotional campaigns
- Improve CRM and UX
- Develop sales plans tailored to specific geographical areas (area-based sales planning)
- Conduct data analysis related to customers, products, UI, and other sales-related aspects to inform strategies
Work Environment
- Overall Business Division: Approximately 60 members
- Mart Planning & Marketing Section: 14 members
- Promotion Execution Group: 6 members
Our team comprises individuals with a wide range of experience, such as marketing professionals from operating companies, operations management specialists, and new graduates
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Proven experience in marketing operations/functions
- Experience in leading multiple team members or managing projects (project leadership experience)
- Strong qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills, including promotional effectiveness measurement and market research
Desired Qualifications:
- Advanced data analysis skills, particularly with SQL
- Experience in defining business requirements for web development projects
- Experience in negotiation and coordination with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to visualize (quantify) goals and plan/execute PDCA cycles to achieve them
- Skills in internal/external coordination, negotiation, and team building
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations
- Practical experience in e-commerce services
- Project or team management experience
- Experience in KPI design and management
Data extraction skills using tools such as SQL, R, and Python
