We are seeking a Marketing & Business Development Specialist to support our market-leading Data, Privacy and Cybersecurity (DPaC) and Communications, Internet and Media (CIM) Regulatory practices. As part of a global team, you will work closely with colleagues across the U.S., Europe and Asia, supporting stakeholders who sit primarily in Washington, D.C., London, Paris and Amsterdam. This role will sit in our Washington office & report to a Senior Marketing & Business Development Manager in the same location.
Flexibility is key in managing the competing demands from the various stakeholders, but in return you will get to demonstrate your skills across the full marketing and business development mix - from pitching and client account management to external profile raising and internal engagement activities.
MARKETING CAMPAIGNS, THOUGHT LEADERSHIP & PROFILE RAISING
- Leading the production workflow for The Data Chronicles video podcast including scheduling guests, tracking topics and episodes, managing editing with our external vendor, drafting episode copy, collaborating with the firm communications team, and maintaining release timelines.
- Contributing to integrated campaigns to help raise profile and awareness with existing and potential clients.
- Drafting and distributing marketing communications, hosting seminars and client events, handling CLE trainings, developing client facing materials, supporting external conference attendance, producing newsletters, and managing web and social media content.
- Creating and maintaining targeted mailing lists for newsletters and events.
- Compiling directory and award submissions.
- Promoting practice capabilities and activities across the firm, through regular internal newsletters, active participation at team meetings, and maintenance of intranet sites.
- Supporting relationships with membership associations and programs with which the firm is a member of and/or partner. Evaluating related sponsorships and opportunities and manage participation to ensure return on investment.
PITCHING, TARGETING & NEW BUSINESS GENERATION
- Co-leading on sector or practice-led pitch opportunities.
- Liaising with the global Pitches and Pursuits team and other M&BD team members to provide input to other sector, practice, regional, or firmwide pitches and RFP responses.
- Creating and maintaining a suite of standard targeting materials, including credentials documents and experience lists.
EVENTS & SPONSORSHIPS
- Supporting the coordination and execution of sponsorships, seminars, receptions, and other marketing-oriented events and activities, including but not limited to event promotion, development of invitations and program materials, coordination with conference services and catering, and other internal and client communications.
- Working with Senior M&BD Manager to plan internal practice meetings and retreats.
WIDER M&BD SUPPORT
- Contribute to wider M&BD projects as required.
- Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location, and services.
- Participate in firm’s global Responsible Business program.
REQUIRED SKILLS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Five (5)+ years of relevant experience, preferably in legal or a professional services sector.
- Knowledge of and interest in the technology industry is highly desirable.
- Experience working with international organizations or other multinational law firms or corporations.
- Bachelor’s degree required, with a focus in marketing, communications, or related field preferred.
Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., including lunch hour, with flexibility to work outside normal business hours as needed. This position follows a hybrid schedule, with four days in the office and one day working remotely from home.
In Washington, D.C., the annualized salary range for this position is $79,000 to $110,000 depending on the candidate's overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. In addition, full time employees as well as some part time employees, will be eligible for the firm’s fringe benefits as they currently exist.
