Marketing Associate (Contract-to-Hire)

IDEO is in search of a full-time Marketing Associate who will help drive engagement and growth across IDEO’s Global Studios (San Francisco, Chicago, Cambridge, Shanghai and London locations). This role will maintain and engage our presence across IDEO's owned high-priority channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, email newsletters, and website). 

We are seeking an individual to support the team at 40 hours weekly. This is a contract-to-hire position with the potential for full-time employment based on performance and business needs.

Once here you will:

Social

  • Develop creative and engaging social media strategies that align with thought leadership, client case studies, and cultural initiatives.
  • Co-create and manage content calendars in partnership with Editorial and Marketing, share these calendars with the team, and be responsible for delivering on them.
  • Monitor activity across owned social media channels, including LinkedIn, Instagram, and Vimeo, adapting content to suit.
  • Monitor, moderate, and engage with communities on LinkedIn and Instagram. Collaborate with the Communication team to handle any negative or malicious engagements. 

Marketing

  • Oversee, plan, deliver, and execute content across platforms, including any necessary HubSpot or website integrations.
  • Collaborate with editorial, marketing, and design leads to create engaging content across platforms.
  • Adhere to guidelines and deadlines, sharing work with Design and Brand for feedback, critique, and direction.
  • Supporting the execution and shareback of key marketing projects, brand tracking, key events and sponsorships.
  • Make recommendations for how to improve performance.

Content Creation

  • Capture studio activities—day-to-day life, events, behind-the-scenes—and content in the form of photography and video. Edit that content in collaboration with design to create media for social media and marketing purposes.
  • Organize, store, and share these assets on the Brand & Marketing Google Drive in collaboration with the program manager. 

Research & Exploration

  • Drive the exploration of emerging channels, and create strategies and proposals accordingly i.e. Reddit, Substack, YouTube, LLMs, etc.
  • Analyze competitor activity and share findings with the team.
  • Research, watch, and evaluate the latest trends and techniques in order to improve ways of measuring social media and marketing activity and explore the creative edges of social communication and engagement, experimenting with formats.
  • Look for ways to use AI to amplify our team’s impact and effectiveness. 

Reporting

  • Monitor, track, analyze, and report on social, marketing, and website performance using tools such as Google Analytics, HubSpot, and Sprout Social.
  • Monitor for agreed metrics, i.e. brand awareness, lead generation, and client engagement.
  • Create reports on a regular cadence in collaboration with the senior marketing director.

Qualifications and Relevant Experiences / Mindsets:

  • 1-3 years minimum professional social media and/or marketing experience.
  • Excellent social writing and engagement skills with in-depth knowledge of various social media platforms and engagement strategies, especially on LinkedIn and Instagram.
  • Experience with B2B service companies, lead generation strategies, and community moderation tactics and/or thought leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience with various publishing platforms, monitoring tools, and digital analytics.
  • Experience with brand reputation monitoring and public relations a plus.
  • Strong self-starter who thinks on their feet to solve problems.
  • Ability to initiate and manage projects autonomously.
  • Skilled in creative, strategic, and analytical thinking.
  • Experience navigating and working closely with cross-functional partners across various business functions.
  • Ability to thrive in a hybrid environment.  
  • Results-focused approach.
  • Ability to multitask effectively and ensure that projects are completed with accuracy.
  • Experience with HubSpot, Sprout Social, Slack, Notion a plus.
  • Interest in design, business development, technology, equity, representation, and sustainability a plus.

In-Person Office Expectations and Working Hours

  • As part of the Brand and Marketing team, you will be expected to work from the San Francisco Lion Building studio on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week. You will also be expected to be in-person on occasion for various events, activities, workshops, etc.
  • The studio is open Monday - Friday and you are more than welcome to be in person at any time.
  • As part of a Global team, you may occasionally be expected to join early meetings (with Europe) or later evening sessions (with Asia).

Payscale & Benefits

IDEO is committed to paying its employees, contractors & vendors equitably, regardless of gender identity or race/ethnicity/cultural identity.

The salary range for this role is $70,000–$80,000 USD. Final offers may vary based on candidate experience, location, and other factors. We are seeking an individual to support the team at 40 hours weekly. This is a contract-to-hire position with the potential for full-time employment based on performance and business needs. As a full-time position, this role is eligible for employee benefits.
