Role Overview

The Market Research Manager leads a team of researchers in maintaining accurate and comprehensive commercial real estate market data and portfolio analytics. This role is central to CoStar Group's mission, enabling commercial real estate clients to make informed, high-impact business decisions that shape a vital segment of the economy helping businesses successfully open offices, retail stores, and industrial facilities. You will be responsible for leading the team in investigating and profiling companies to ensure owners, brokers, and real estate professionals can identify the best-suited buildings for their needs. This is an in-office position, Monday through Friday.


 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and Develop a High-Performing Research Team: Oversee a team of 8+ Associate Research Consultants, providing leadership, coaching, and mentorship to foster a strong team culture and a centre of excellence in line with individual development plans.

  • Ensure Data Integrity and Market Coverage: Supervise the collection, analysis, and timely publication of accurate, comprehensive commercial real estate data for your assigned markets/region, developing workflows and conducting regular audits to maintain the highest quality standards and client service.

  • Drive Strategic Planning and Reporting: Partner with sales and product teams to align with client needs, prepare quarterly “Territory Plans” for data and relationship improvements, and oversee the creation of comprehensive market reports.


 

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Real Estate, or a related field.

  • Experience & Skills:

    • 2+ years of experience leading a team of 6 or more individuals.

    • 2+ years in a professional, corporate environment.

    • 2+ years of experience within commercial real estate.

  • Other: Flexibility to work shifts aligned with national time zones.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience in the commercial real estate industry.

  • Experience with creating effective Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and meeting performance metrics (results-oriented).

  • Strong leadership and management skills, including coaching, mentoring, and workload control.

  • Success in building strong, cohesive teams through influence and collaboration.

  • Ability to articulate and execute corporate strategy effectively.

  • Proficiency in Excel, including the ability to manipulate data, filter, and develop basic formulas.

  • Creative problem solving, attention to detail, objectivity, and strategic thinking.

  • Analytical approach to interpreting information and trends.

  • Ability to interact at all levels and establish rapport with stakeholders.

  • Strong organisational skills (already mentioned in the initial section, but worth including here for completeness).

  • 5+ years of experience in real estate research or data management (already mentioned in the initial section, but worth including here for completeness).
