The Market Operations Intern will support the Equities Operations team in optimizing core business processes and enhancing data-driven decision-making. This role requires a solution-oriented professional who can look beyond immediate tasks to identify and resolve underlying operational challenges. The Intern will be responsible for documenting workflows, participating in annual procedure audits, and mining client feedback data to support new initiatives. The successful candidate will apply a combination of capital markets knowledge and technical proficiency to build and execute process improvements using AI and automation tools.

Reports to: Senior Manager, Market Operations, Equities Trade Desk & Manager, Business Operations and Compliance

This role is hybrid (4 days/week in the office) - based in Toronto, ON.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Problem Identification & Resolution: Proactively identify bottlenecks in daily operations and propose actionable, technology-driven solutions to improve team productivity and accuracy.

  • Process Documentation & Auditing: Conduct end-to-end mapping of operational workflows. Lead the annual review of business processes and procedures to ensure internal documentation is accurate, compliant, and reflects current operational practices.

  • Business Intelligence & Data Mining: Extract and analyze data from communication platforms (e.g., RingCX and Salesforce) to identify client trends, pain points, and requirements for new product initiatives.

  • Requirements Gathering: Participate in project scoping sessions to capture business requirements and assist in translating them into technical project plans and functional specifications. Collaborate with colleagues and business partners to understand processes and identify requirements for potential enhancements.

  • Automation & Execution: Identify manual operational tasks and implement practical solutions using AI tools and no-code platforms (e.g., Excel, Google Gemini, Google Workspace AI tools) to streamline repetitive workflows.

  • Operational Reporting: Develop and maintain dashboards that provide visibility into key performance indicators (KPIs), client trends, and operational metrics.

Must Have(s):

  • Academic Background: Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Business, Finance, or Economics, with a specialized focus in Information Systems, Analytics, or Business Technology Management.

  • Solution-Oriented Mindset: A proven ability to approach challenges with a proactive problem-solving perspective, focusing on "how" to resolve issues rather than just identifying them.

  • Operational Rigor: Exceptional attention to detail; the ability to review procedures critically, identify gaps in documentation, and update records for accuracy.

  • Technical Aptitude: Working knowledge of AI productivity tools (e.g., LLMs) and a proven ability to build functional solutions using Excel or no-code automation tools.

  • Analytical Skills: Critical thinking skills with proficiency in data mining and the ability to synthesize information from various sources (CRM, call logs, data sets) into actionable business insights.

  • Communication: Professional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with various TMX business units.

Nice to Have(s):

  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Tableau, or similar BI/CRM platforms.

  • Completion of, or enrollment in, the Canadian Securities Course (CSC).

  • Understanding of Equity Market structures and the Canadian regulatory environment.

  • 4 month Co-op / Internship: May 4, 2026 - August 28, 2026

  • Knockri Assessment: Completion of the Knockri Assessment is a mandatory requirement for consideration.

Salary Range: $20/hour - $25/hour CAD
