The Role: Market Insight Manager

The Market Insight Manager is responsible for delivering high‑quality, forward‑looking market, competitor, and client insight that informs strategic decision‑making across the business. The role translates complex external data, trends, and signals into clear, actionable insight that shapes corporate strategy, distribution priorities, proposition development, and product lifecycle management.

Support business decision makers to understand the external environment, anticipate change, and make informed, evidence‑based decisions in an increasingly complex and competitive market landscape. Driving the 'so what', enabling clear action to be taken.

Key Accountabilities

  • Identification, analysis, and interpretation of macro‑economic, market, regulatory, and industry trends, assessing their implications for the organisation’s strategy and performance.
  • Monitor competitor activity, including product launches, pricing, positioning, distribution approaches, and strategic moves, translating findings into clear implications and recommendations.
  • Produce clear, compelling insight outputs that inform corporate strategy, business planning, proposition design, and go‑to‑market activity.
  • Move beyond reporting to articulate the “so what”, providing interpretation, options, and recommendations tailored to different senior audiences.
  • Support the business to think long‑term, balancing short‑term performance with future market opportunity and risk.
  • Contribute insight to key governance, strategy, and investment forums where external context is required.
  • Design and deliver high‑quality management information, insight papers, and presentations that are concise, visually engaging, and impactful.
  • Act as a central point of expertise for external market and competitor intelligence, ensuring consistency and alignment of insight across the organisation.
  • Proactively develop market and industry knowledge, staying current on new research techniques, tools, data sources, and insight best practice.
  • Promote an insight‑led culture, encouraging evidence‑based thinking and external awareness across the business.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Strong analytical and strategic mindset, with the ability to interpret complex information and translate it into clear, actionable insight.
  • Proven experience in market insight, market intelligence, strategy, research, or competitive analysis, ideally within financial services or a regulated environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to move confidently between detail and big‑picture thinking, adapting messages for different audiences.
  • High level of IT literacy, including advanced use of Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), with an interest in insight visualisation.
  • Experience working with senior leaders and cross‑functional teams.
  • Knowledge of investments, pensions and broader financial markets.
  • Familiarity with research methodologies, market data providers, or insight tools.

Location: Edinburgh or Stirling - Hybrid 2 - 3 days in the office
