Job Description:

Vaxcom Services LLC (a Parsons company) is looking for a Maritime Security Officer to join our team! In this role you will get to provide armed security related to maritime security operations as part of our team in Hertford, NC.
What You'll Be Doing:
• Controls access to facility by monitoring surveillance equipment, inspecting vehicles, and ensuring all personnel entering the base have the proper identification.
• Responds to situations on base using the appropriate escalation of force level up to and including armed response by following established Use of Force Policy.
• Responds to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents that may occur during day or night.
• Observes and reports incidents or suspicious activity.
• Maintains proficiency and safety in the use of all assigned equipment, control devices, and weapon systems.
• Attends 40 hours of In-Service Training annually.
• Maritime Security Operations specific duties include:
• Will work very closely with the facility Maritime Officer to strengthen the installation's maritime security posture, improve response capabilities, and support mission requirements.
• Conducts routine and random maritime patrols of assigned waterways and waterfront security zones.
• Operates and maintains facility security vessels in support of maritime security operations.
• Assists with enforcement of installation maritime security policies, restricted waterway controls, and safety regulations.
• Monitors and reports suspicious activity, potential threats, or safety hazards within maritime areas.
• Coordinates with facility security personnel and supervisors to support response to incidents occurring on or near the water.
• Supports maritime training operations and assists in developing operational proficiency within the maritime security team.
• Ensures operational readiness, inspection, and accountability of maritime equipment and vessels.
• Maintains required reports and documentation related to maritime patrol activities.
• Supports overall security operations as required, including land-based duties when necessary.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
• Active or current Secret Clearance.
• Must have at least two years’ experience in either Law Enforcement, Department of Corrections, Security or the United States Armed Forces.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Must be able to pass an annual Physical fitness evaluation test consisting of a mile and a half run, push-ups and sit-ups.
• Meet minimum qualification standard for NC PPSB Certifications with the Glock 17 pistol, Remington 870 Shotgun and the M-4 Carbine.
• First Aid and CPR training.
• FEMA Courses 100, 200,700 and 800 • Maritime Security Officer specific:
• Ability to operate small vessels in varying environmental environments.
• Strong situational awareness and ability to respond to dynamic operational environments.
• Must be able to work in outdoor environments and maritime conditions.
• Must be capable of performing extended patrols by vessel and responding to incidents on or near the water.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate for customer mission requirements.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
• Previous experience working at a classified facility/environment.
• Prior maritime or boating experience is strongly preferred.
