Svitzer is launching a new Global Marine & Audit function to strengthen operational standards across our worldwide operations. This function will be led by a Senior Marine & Audit Manager based in Denmark and supported by regional specialists, to ensure global consistency and local expertise.

This role focuses on the AMEA region, covering countries such as Angola, Bharain, Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Liberia, Morocco, Mozambique, Oman, Philippines and Qatar. In addition to the experience outlined below, you will need fluency in Arabic, as well as proficiency in English for global collaboration. As Marine & Audit Superintendent there will be extensive travel up to 150 days per year globally, with a primary focus on ports and terminals in the specified region. You will play a vital role in auditing vessels, sharing best practices, and supporting continuous improvement across our operations. This is a collaborative effort to set and maintain the standard for Svitzer’s global marine operations.

More about the role

As Marine & Audit Superintendent, you will be part of the Global Marine & Audit function, forming a “Centre of Excellence” for Global Marine Operations, helping define operational standards and supporting global, regional, and local teams. You will audit vessels worldwide, share knowledge with crews and port management, and contribute to continuous improvement of marine guidelines and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive knowledge sharing by conducting audits that foster learning and collaboration.
  • Audit vessels in line with global guidelines and schedules, approaching each audit with a collaborative mindset to create a positive learning experience for both crew and auditor.
  • Support compliance and operational standards through audits, ensuring vessels meet minimum requirements and regulatory obligations - ultimately delivering the service levels our customers expect.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of Svitzer Towage Guidelines and other global marine operational and functional procedures.
  • Act as part of the Centre of Excellence for Global Marine Operations, setting operational standards and providing subject matter expertise to local, regional, and global teams across both marine operations and commercial activities.
  • Share insights and best practices from global operations during audits, including lessons learned from incidents and proven approaches in towage operations.
  • Stay current with industry practices to ensure engagement with crew and shore operations remains relevant, effective, and forward-looking.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone with strong technical expertise and excellent interpersonal skills. Ideally, you can check off most of the following:

  • Master Mariner with significant Tug Master experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of towage operations.
  • Knowledge and experience in Management Systems.
  • Familiarity with international regulations (e.g., SOLAS, ISM Code, MARPOL).
  • Proficiency in English - our corporate language.
  • Fluency in Arabic- essential for supporting the AMEA operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong ability to engage with crew and port operations and actively listen to understand concerns, perspectives, and operational realities.
