Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector has an immediate need for Manufacturing Process Engineers to support the Final Assembly areas within manufacturing. The primary location is our Linthicum, MD facility.
Manufacturing Process Engineers have responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:
Factory Support:
Monitoring process performance; optimizing and implementing improvements to ensure stable and expected outputs; collaborating with multiple manufacturing teams in using lean and continuous improvement tools
Resolving technical manufacturing disruptions related to materials, designs, equipment and tooling, training and instructions; collaborating with design engineers to resolve technical problems
Training new personnel on processes and designing training materials; assisting the build team to meet the requirements of J-STD-001, IPC-610, IPC-620, and relevant MIL-STDs
Supporting factory maintenance personnel with the troubleshooting and repair of process equipment
Process Development:
Developing new, optimizing, maintaining and improving, manufacturing processes, and parameters, to achieve affordable and reliable production capabilities
Identifying process-required or product-specific tools and equipment; creating custom tools and fixtures and documenting designs
Providing data required to develop capacity models, workspace layouts, and product workflow routings
Specifying new manufacturing equipment for production; leading deployment to ensure factory compliance and readiness for production
Identifying new technologies that achieve required capabilities or capacities, developing ROI justification for technology deployments or process improvements
Creating and maintaining process documentation and assembly work instructions from complex engineering drawings and parts lists
Creating and managing project plans (tasks, resources and schedules) for process development activities and new equipment implementations
Design and Engineering Support:
Performing producibility reviews of new product designs; recommending product design changes to improve manufacturability; training design engineers to assess designs for manufacturability
Utilizing Design to Cost (DTC), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Design for Automation (DFA) tools to deliver cost-effective and producible products
Documenting state-of-the-art process capabilities and guidelines for product designers
Miscellaneous:
Providing supplier support, as needed, to resolve supplier issues in meeting process and product requirements
Providing Request for Proposal (RFP) inputs, specifically as it relates to Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) and material requirements for tooling, capital equipment and/or new process development and documentation
Travelling to suppliers and customers may be required
The chosen candidate must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high visibility environment; work well in a team environment; and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
