The Manufacturing Team Leader supports the Supervisor(s), the manufacturing and quality leadership teams, and staff to execute operational objectives aligned with the annual operating plan. This role oversees a manufacturing production operation while providing direct people leadership for assembly line employees. In addition to production oversight, this role plays a key part in team member lifecycle management, including hiring support, training, performance management, attendance tracking, coaching, and disciplinary actions. The Team Leader makes decisions involving production priorities, customer orders, team member performance, operational issues, and compliance with company policies and procedures. This role also serves as a subject matter resource for product quality and manufacturing processes, ensuring work meets established standards prior to release to downstream operations or customers.
Example Duties and Activities
Perform oversight of daily production activities to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and output targets are achieved.
Plan and coordinate work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet operational goals.
Review and assess work orders, production schedules, and reports to determine requirements and evaluate performance.
Lead, coach, and support assembly line employees to drive performance, engagement, and accountability.
Assign and adjust day-to-day job responsibilities based on production needs and priorities.
Provide training, cross-training, and follow-up to ensure team members are equipped to perform their roles effectively.
Serve as a resource for product quality and manufacturing standards, supporting adherence to specifications and requirements (as needed).
Review production documentation (e.g., work orders, build records, or equivalent) for completeness and accuracy prior to release to downstream operations or customers.
Perform verification activities, including limited hands-on inspection and shipping readiness checks, to ensure product meets requirements.
Inspect materials, products, and equipment to detect defects and ensure quality expectations are met.
Monitor processes and equipment to maintain compliance with production standards and identify issues.
Complete daily reporting and communicate production results, issues, and opportunities to leadership.
Collaborate with leaders and cross-functional partners to coordinate operations and resolve workflow challenges.
Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality.
Assess employee performance and deliver ongoing feedback, recognition, and corrective action.
Support recruitment activities, including pre-screening, interviewing, and onboarding of new hires.
Monitor attendance, address concerns, and support corrective action processes in alignment with company policy.
Participate in performance reviews and ongoing performance discussions.
Administer or support disciplinary actions with consistency and fairness.
Identify skill gaps and support development and cross-training opportunities.
Track and evaluate production metrics, including output, efficiency, and quality performance.
Utilize data to identify trends, assess performance, and support decision-making.
Act as a steward of resources, including labor, time, and materials, to support efficient operations.

Other Requirements
Hard to Very Hard Physical Work - Is able to spend time in excess of 8 hours sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Uses hands to grasp, carry, feel, or touch both products and machinery. Has the ability to move and lift 50+ pounds. Can manage frequent exposure to moderate/loud noise.
Visual Acuity - Meets the screening requirements of 20/40 vision using both eyes with or without correction.
