GENERAL PURPOSE

The Engineering Manager leads and empowers a multi-functional engineering team to successfully design, develop, launch, and sustain Geiger products. This role ensures alignment with product strategy and supports both current and emerging product applications. The position manages resources, schedules, budgets, and deliverables across multiple concurrent programs, ensuring goals are met in accordance with organizational and program roadmaps.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Lead and participate in project planning, setting clear priorities and expectations.

Analyze supply chain cost structures, value-stream capabilities, and economic considerations to drive informed recommendations.

Assign, monitor, and review work for accuracy and completeness while providing technical guidance on complex engineering challenges.

Build, coach, and develop a high-performing team; distribute workload effectively and support individual growth plans.

Capture, maintain, and communicate deep technical knowledge to ensure engineering excellence.

Conceptualize, drive, and implement solutions to highly complex engineering or product issues.

Identify and implement process or procedural improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Identify product and process improvement opportunities and execute related initiatives.

Serve as engineering subject matter expert, setting and teaching high standards of technical quality.

Make timely decisions under pressure, often with incomplete information.

Manage major project budgets and ensure financial accountability.

Lead or contribute to cross-functional project teams.

Mentor new and early-career engineers, fostering knowledge transfer and skill development.

Present project updates, proposals, and technical content clearly to leadership and cross-functional partners.

Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support business objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution required.

  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of professional engineering experience, with 0–3 years of leadership or people management experience.

  • Demonstrated success in increasingly complex engineering roles.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership capabilities with a proven ability to motivate and guide engineering teams.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

  • Well-rounded business acumen with foundational knowledge in accounting, finance, quality, marketing, and operations.

  • Deep understanding of new product development processes with demonstrated success leading teams from concept through implementation.

  • Working knowledge of engineering and quality tools such as CAD/ProEngineer, PDM, ERP systems, GD&T, QFD, DFMEA, PFMEA, DFA, Reliability Methods, Control Plans, and SPC, and how they drive improved business results.

  • Strong project management expertise, including scheduling, resource planning, budgeting, scope control, and proficiency in tools such as MS Project.

  • Ability to effectively use office automation and communication tools commonly utilized in the MillerKnoll environment.

  • Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without accommodation.
