About the Internship
Join the Engineering team at Collins Aerospace, where innovation meets precision in every stage of aerospace manufacturing.
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you’ll play an active role in supporting day-to-day project activities, technical coordination, and documentation. You’ll contribute to fixture design, testing, automation, and process optimization projects, helping to enhance operational efficiency and support the team’s continuous improvement initiatives.
This internship is designed to give you practical, hands-on experience in aerospace engineering workflows, digital systems, and data-driven process improvement—developing skills that will prepare you for a future in advanced manufacturing and engineering excellence.
What You Will Learn
- Gain hands-on exposure to aerospace engineering projects, including design documentation, data analysis, and process validation.
- Learn engineering workflows, quality requirements, and industry standards through active participation in project tasks.
- Develop practical skills in digital systems, data visualization, and automation tools used in modern manufacturing.

What You Will Work On
- Scout and analyze production processes to identify automation opportunities and assist in project planning.
- Apply Customer Oriented Results & Excellence (CORE problem-solving techniques while supporting daily MDI (Managing for Daily Improvement) activities.
- Conduct time studies and workflow analyses to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Contribute to Shop Floor Tools Modularization, developing standardized and optimized modular tooling layouts.
- Support QCPC (Quality Clinic Problem Control) data collection and analysis, providing reports with root causes and recommended actions.
- Design and model parts or fixtures using Unigraphics NX, creating 3D models and drawings that meet design and quality requirements.
- Participate in PIP (Process Improvement Projects) and COSMIC initiatives, contributing measurable improvements and automation proposals with project plans and timelines.
- Prepare and present data-driven summaries such as time study reports, productivity analyses, and standardization recommendations.

- Familiarity with Power BI and Power Automate for visualization and process tracking.
- Experience or interest in NX CAD/CAM for 3D modeling and simulation (good to have).
- Basic knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
