What You’ll Bring

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Sciences, Biology, or related field. Or equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of GIS experience in environmental consulting.

  • Advanced proficiency in Esri ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise.

  • Expertise in ArcPython, ArcGIS API for Python, and related libraries.

  • Proven ability to design workflows, automate processes, and establish SOPs.

  • Experience developing field survey tools (Survey123, Field Maps).

  • Strong geodatabase design, spatial analysis, and data visualization skills.

  • Leadership experience with technical teams and client-facing projects.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with permitting processes for capital projects.

  • Experience integrating GIS with AutoCAD Map/Civil 3D.

  • Knowledge of Salesforce integration.

  • Background in Power Sector vegetation management projects.

  • Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership & Delivery
    Lead design and implementation of large-scale GIS projects, ensuring quality and innovation.
    Develop enterprise GIS systems and custom automation tools using Python and ModelBuilder.
    Manage field data collection and advanced geospatial analysis for site selection, routing, and permitting.

  • Client Engagement
    Act as a trusted advisor, supporting proposals, presentations, and strategic planning.
    Identify opportunities to evolve GIS services aligned with client sustainability goals.

  • Team & People Development
    Mentor junior staff, foster collaboration, and lead a team of 2–4 GIS professionals.
    Share knowledge through technical communities and thought leadership.

  • Business Contribution
    Promote ERM’s technical excellence at conferences and client events.
    Drive innovation in GIS workflows and service offerings.
    Apply commercial acumen to support project budgeting and risk management.

For the Managing Technical Consultant, GIS position, the anticipated annual base pay is $91,185–$112,188 (USD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
