Job Description
What is the opportunity?
At RBC Capital Markets, we are building the next generation of insight-driven leadership. As Head, COO Group Metrics & Reporting, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how our Capital Markets COO organization measures success, drives accountability, and translates strategy into action. This is a highly visible, enterprise-impact role for a seasoned leader who thrives at the intersection of strategy, data, and execution. You will design and operationalize a comprehensive metrics and reporting framework that provides senior leadership with clear, timely, and actionable insight into the operational health, performance, and transformation progress of Capital Markets.
Partnering closely with the Head of COO Office & Business Transformation, the COO, and senior leaders across Finance, Operations, Technology, and Risk, you will help define what “great performance” looks like and ensure the organization can see it, track it, and act on it. If you are energized by building clarity from complexity, influencing at the most senior levels, and enabling data-driven decision-making at scale, this role offers a rare opportunity to leave a lasting impact on how Capital Markets operates and evolves.
What will you do?
Establish and lead a comprehensive COO Group metrics and reporting framework that delivers transparency into operational health, performance, and strategic execution across Capital Markets.
Define and evolve enterprise-level KPIs, scorecards, and leading and lagging indicators aligned to COO Group priorities, FY30 ambitions, and Capital Markets strategy.
Design and deliver executive-grade reporting and dashboards, including Quarterly Business Review materials for the COO and senior leadership, with a clear, action-oriented narrative.
Translate strategic objectives into measurable, trackable outcomes by partnering with business, operations, finance, technology, and risk leaders.
Build standardized reporting cadences, governance, and data quality standards to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness across all COO Group metrics.
Drive the development of real-time operational dashboards that provide visibility across service lines, business units, and transformation initiatives.
Establish a single source of truth for operational metrics through data integration, automation, and analytics enablement.
Identify performance trends, gaps, and root causes; escalate insights and recommend corrective actions to senior leadership.
Track productivity, efficiency, cost-to-serve, and transformation benefits realization, ensuring outcomes are clearly measured and communicated.
Continuously assess and evolve the metrics framework, incorporating industry best practices and peer benchmarking.
Foster a strong culture of data-driven decision-making, accountability, and continuous improvement across the COO organization.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
8–10+ years of progressive experience in operational metrics, business analytics, performance management, or business intelligence within financial services.
Significant experience defining and leading KPI frameworks, executive dashboards, and reporting for complex, matrixed organizations.
Strong understanding of Capital Markets operations, processes, and business models, with the ability to connect metrics to real business outcomes.
Proven ability to influence senior leaders and operate as a trusted strategic partner at the executive level.
Deep experience with data integration, analytics, and reporting automation, including governance and data quality practices.
Advanced proficiency with business intelligence and analytics tools (such as Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, or similar), as well as strong SQL and Excel capabilities.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling business insights and narratives.
Nice-to-have
Advanced degree such as an MBA or MS in Analytics, or relevant professional certifications in analytics, data management, or financial analysis.
Familiarity with Python or R and modern data warehousing or metrics management platforms.
Experience supporting large-scale transformation or enterprise change initiatives.
What’s in it for you?
A highly strategic leadership role with direct exposure to the COO and senior executives across Capital Markets. The opportunity to shape how one of the world’s leading investment bank measures performance and drives execution.
A mandate to build, not inherit — with the ability to design frameworks, standards, and capabilities that will define the future.
A collaborative, high-performing culture that values insight, curiosity, and thoughtful challenge.
