About the Role

The Workplace Engineering Project Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring our HQ Hub locations across North America operate at the highest level of safety, efficiency, and reliability. As a key member of the Workplace team, this leader oversees the planning and execution of both minor and major engineering and facilities projects that directly support the employee experience and safeguard the performance of our buildings.

This role blends technical expertise with strategic, hands-on project leadership. The Workplace Engineering Project Manager is responsible for driving end-to-end project delivery, maintaining the integrity of critical building systems, resolving ongoing maintenance challenges, and partnering closely with cross-functional teams to anticipate needs and deliver solutions that keep our spaces running smoothly.

What You'll Do

  • Responsible for planning, managing, and delivering end-to-end engineering and facilities maintenance projects—both minor and major—ensuring completion on time, within scope, and within budget. Includes oversight of all project phases, preparation of as-built documentation, and execution strategies that minimize disruption to business operations. 

  • Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans; monitor progress and adjust as needed. 

  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, Fire life-safety, etc.) with the Workplace Engineering Teams, ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards. 

  • Ensure Workplace Engineering Teams meet KPIs and SLAs for Facilities Work Orders. 

  • Set, track and report on ongoing building facilities maintenance issues. 

  • Partner with Sr. Manager to create and maintain building Engineering Budgets. 

  • Meet with contractors to scope projects and obtain proposals for Workplace Engineering department projects. 

  • Schedule building maintenance and service requests with vendors and internal team. 

  • Create and manage project budgets.  

  • Provide engineering-related project scoping and assistance to the Engineering department, and other related Gap Inc. departments as needed.  

  • Maintain architectural and MEP drawing records for HQ Facilities. 

  • Maintain all permits, licenses and certifications, for various facilities.  

  • Establish and maintain engineering service contracts for all corporate facilities. This includes working with legal and sourcing to negotiate rates for new contracts or renewals and assisting in the RFP process.  

  • Maintain vendor access list.  

  • Maintain engineering process and procedures developed for the Workplace Engineering Department. 

  • Troubleshoot engineering related issues in the field with building engineering team.  

  • Provide building contractor access and assistance as needed.  

  • Support Workplace Engineering staff, Workplace Environment teams and Workplace Operations teams for small moves, miscellaneous projects and service requests.  

  • Work with finance/project coordinator to track and process invoices. 

  • Maintain strong vendor and partner relationships through consistent communication and performance feedback.  

  • Be available to provide on-call support on rotation for building emergencies. 

  • Flexible and adaptable work style, including travel to other North America Hub locations and availability for early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed. 

Who You Are

  • Degree in Management, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience). 

  • 5–10 years of experience in building engineering, facilities maintenance, and project management in a corporate office environment. 

  • Strong knowledge of facilities, construction procedures, materials, and property management. 

  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings (MEP). 

  • Familiarity with HVAC and electrical building systems. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), SharePoint, Adobe, and scheduling software. 

  • Experience with AutoCAD (or viewer) and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)- (preferred). 

  • Expertise in financial accounting and CapEx/OpEx budgeting. 

  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities. 

  • Excellent organizational skills; able to work independently and adapt to changing priorities. 

  • Ability to schedule, prioritize, and lead workload changes effectively. 

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills (verbal and written). 

  • Professional demeanor with experience managing multiple stakeholders at all levels. 

  • Self-starter with attention to detail and accountability. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity to innovate and improve processes. 

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
