Manager, Venue Security:
The Manager, Venue Security will play a pivotal, early role, as a key member of a small, professional Safety and Security Team. The Manager, Venue Security, will work collaboratively with a broad team of stakeholders on the design and security operating plans for a group of Olympic Venues. This person will ensure that all designs and plans are integrated into the overall Games Security Plans and Games Operational Plans. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills who can work collaboratively with multiple functional areas (departments,) government and public safety agencies, and a diverse set of stakeholders to ensure the highest levels of security and operational efficiency during the Games. The ideal candidate is a proactive, organized, and detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Venue Security Planning, and Operations
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Integration
- Develop venue-based security plans that provide the highest level of Security while minimizing impacts to critical event operations in collaboration with members of the Safety and Security Team, key LA28 Functional Areas (FAs,) including Event Management, Transportation, Logistics, Venue Partners, and Public Safety Agencies. Coordinate with internal teams and external partners (law enforcement, transportation authorities, emergency services, and private contractors and suppliers) to create unified and integrated security plans.
- Develop and integrate plans for Pre-Games Test Events with key stakeholders.
- Serve as the main point of contact/liaison for the Safety & Security Department with key functional areas, Venue contacts, government/public safety agencies, as required. ·
Risk Management & Compliance
- Contribute to risk and Venue assessments to identify vulnerabilities, develop mitigation strategies, and oversee implementation of approved security plans.
- Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as international best practices for event security. ·
Operational Coordination
- Oversee and deliver the LA28 approved Security Operations Plans at assigned Venue(s) and ensure adherence to all approved LA28 Policies and Procedures at Olympic and Paralympic Venues at Games time.
- Assist with recruitment for the Deputy Venue Security Managers and Associates in an assigned group of Venues.
- Manage a team within the Venue Group.
- Complete regular status reports, incident reports, and project status reports as required. As a key member of the planning team, this position will also take on other assigned tasks as required.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Point of contact between LA28 Functional Areas, Public Safety and Security Agencies, and the Safety and Security Department, as assigned.
- Manage relationships with external partners, including law enforcement agencies, regulatory entities, state/regional traffic management organizations, and service providers. ·
Project Management:
- Chair planning meetings or working groups, as assigned, to ensure timely delivery of milestones and deliverables.
- Complete regular status reports, draft and share meeting notes and agendas, and draft policy and procedure documents, as required.
Background & Requirements:
- Minimum of 5+years of experience in a fast-paced, safety/security related position. ·
- Minimum of 3-5 years of \management experience. ·
- Experience in cross functional security planning and collaboration. · Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. ·
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. ·
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint.) ·
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with a proactive approach to problem-solving. ·
- High level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information. ·
- Demonstrated commitment to co-creation and collaborative decision-making
- Ability to foster collaboration, teamwork, and information sharing.
Expectations:
- Experience in event security, specifically international, multi-sport events, is highly preferred. ·
- Experience working with the federal, state, or local government is preferred. ·
- Experience in multi-Venue event security planning or large-scale project management is preferred. ·
- Passion for sports, community engagement, or involvement in large-scale events.
- Experience that has demonstratively led to advanced interpersonal and communication soft skills.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree Security/Law Enforcement, Emergency Management, Project Management, or a related field preferred. ·
- Certifications or specialized training in Security, Law Enforcement, Public Safety, and/or Project Management, preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office.
- The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.
- The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.
- Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.
- Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The annual base salary range for this position is $88,000-$110,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
