What is the opportunity?

Corporate Treasury is responsible for the management of enterprise-wide capital, liquidity, non-trading interest rate risk and pension assets, and execution of term funding, capital, and interest rate risk hedging transactions.


Financial Resource Optimization (FRO) team under Corporate Treasury is responsible for management of capital and liquidity resources in support of RBC’s key strategic objectives. FRO’s mandate includes measurement, monitoring and forecasting of risk-weighted assets, leverage, and capital metrics. FRO works jointly with Business segments, Strategy, Group Risk Management, and other Finance teams to measure and deploy capital in support of RBC’s growth and regulatory objectives.

As a Manager, Treasury Data - Capital & Liquidity Analytics, you will support the Capital and Liquidity Data, Systems, and Business Solutions teams, working closely with Product Owners, technology teams, and stakeholders to enhance the data infrastructure and analytics capabilities supporting RBC’s regulatory and strategic initiatives. You will play a key role in transforming financial and regulatory data into actionable insights, improving transparency around capital and liquidity metrics, ensuring data quality and compliance, and contributing to the evolution of the bank’s data platforms. You will also help drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and automating processes to support stakeholder decision-making.

What will you do?

You will support the FRO Data team by contributing to the following areas:

AI, Data Analytics & Innovation

  • Identify and prototype opportunities to apply Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and advanced analytics to enhance automation, decision-making, and data quality within Capital and Liquidity domains.

  • Develop AI-driven solutions for processes such as anomaly detection, variance analysis, and predictive modeling to identify trends and risks in capital and liquidity metrics.

  • Build tools leveraging generative AI, including chatbot-style interfaces, to enable easier access to data insights for internal users.

  • Design and deliver end-to-end data visualization and analytics solutions, including defining data elements, building data pipelines, ensuring data lineage, and creating dashboards and analytical tools.

  • Analyze datasets related to Capital and Liquidity measurement and reporting, such as Risk-Weighted Assets (RWA), leverage exposure, and Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR).

  • Prototype, test, and operationalize dashboards, KPIs, and visualization tools to support senior stakeholders and enable data-driven decision making.

  • Participate in proof-of-concept initiatives and the evaluation/adoption of emerging technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Trino) to enhance analytics capabilities.

  • Collaborate with technology teams on integrating AI and analytics into existing platforms and workflows, and expand access to enterprise data sources while ensuring compliance with data governance, security, and regulatory standards.

Root Cause Analysis & Process Improvement

  • Investigate data anomalies, reporting discrepancies, or operational bottlenecks impacting capital and liquidity reporting.

  • Perform root cause analysis across systems, processes, and datasets to identify underlying issues.

  • Work closely with stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Technology, and Business teams to remediate data or reporting issues.

  • Document business processes, data flows, and system interactions to support operational improvements.

  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of data pipelines, controls, and reporting frameworks.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline.

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience preferred.

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate business problems into data-driven solutions.

  • Experience in SQL and Python is required, with familiarity in big data libraries or tools (e.g., PySpark).

  • Experience with data cleaning, data mining, and ETL processes.

  • Experience developing and deployment AI-driven solutions.

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).

  • Familiarity working with databases and big data technologies, including Spark, Snowflake, and other distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Hive).

  • Familiarity with integrating AI/ML workflows with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake or Databricks).

  • Familiarity with statistical methods and data analysis techniques.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong curiosity and a self-driven approach to problem solving.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice-to-have

  • Advanced hands-on experience with data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Trino.

  • Experience with advanced statistical modeling or machine learning techniques.

  • Knowledge of Capital, Liquidity, or Risk Management concepts.

  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as Basel III, OSFI CAR or LAR guidelines.

  • Experience in banking, financial services, or FinTech.

  • Experience working with Agile or product development methodologies.
