Role Overview:

As a Tax Manager for the APAC region, you will play a critical role in managing direct and indirect tax compliance, litigation, advisory, and strategic tax projects across multiple jurisdictions. This position requires strong technical expertise, leadership in tax transformation initiatives, and the ability to partner with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance and optimize tax strategies in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role demands a high level of Tax acumen, cross-functional collaboration, and regulatory compliance, particularly in the context of India and Asia Pac operations. The Manager will be responsible for handling a team size of 10+ associates.
What You'll Bring:
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Oversee direct and indirect tax compliance for APAC entities, including corporate tax, GST/VAT, and withholding taxes, tax, transfer pricing, and GST Audits.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns and statutory reports across jurisdictions.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and implement necessary updates to processes.
- Review quarterly tax packages including financial/ tax performance summaries, advance tax calculations.
- Review Asia Pac tax returns, financial statements, and tax-specific journal entries.
- Provide executive summaries for Asia Pac / India financial performance on a quarterly basis.
- Preparation of tax outflow forecast on periodic basis to assess the liquidity position.
- Drive tax automation projects and implement data analytics for tax forecasting.
- Lead cross-border tax compliance.
- Provide strategic tax advice on cross-border transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and new market entries.
- Support business teams with tax planning and risk mitigation strategies.
- Advice on transfer pricing policies and documentation requirements.
- Manage tax audits, assessments, and litigation cases with local authorities.
- Coordinate with external advisors and legal counsel for tax notices, tax audits, and litigations.
- Prepare documentation and represent the company in hearings and negotiations.
- Lead tax transformation projects, including process automation and technology implementation.
- Drive initiatives to improve tax governance, risk management, and internal controls.
- Collaborate with finance, legal, and business teams on tax-related projects and compliance frameworks.
- Oversee Tax asset allocation and diversification strategies.
- Identify and assess Tax risks.
- Assist in due diligence for investments and strategic decisions.
- Tax Strategy & Compliance
- Support strategic tax initiatives (e.g., APA negotiations, appeals).
- Review quarterly Data flow packages for tax accuracy.
- Coordinate with internal and external tax advisors and auditors.
- Business Operations & Administration
- Set up and promote TU business tax activity in US / EMEA.
- Manage Tax Inflow and outflow activities and ensure optimal utilization of tax funds.
- Apply for and maintain Global Business Tax Registrations and other Tax licenses.
- Maintain Tax books and records, Tax payroll, and tax residency documentation.
- Manage International Big-4 services and vendor engagements (e.g., Coupa, invoices).
- Manage Coupa, Concur, Peoplesoft and other Tax management tools across Asia Pac.
- Contribute to additional management-related responsibilities as required.
Impact You'll Make:
- Education: Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, or equivalent qualification.
- Experience: Minimum 10–12 years in corporate tax, indirect tax, and advisory roles, preferably in a multinational environment.
- Strong knowledge of APAC tax regulations and cross-border tax issues.
- Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency in tax technology tools and ERP systems (Peoplesoft, Oracle).
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Experience in tax technology platforms (ASP/GSP, SAP Tax Modules) and digital compliance tools.
