How you’ll make a difference: 

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, as a strategic, innovative business partner, the Manager, Talent Strategy & Human Resources Operations, provides leadership to a team of professionals who deliver high‑quality, people‑centered HR services.  The manager works closely with leaders across WCB‑Alberta to align people strategies with operational and organizational priorities. You will champion modern HR practices, support innovation and organizational effectiveness, and ensure HR operations remain aligned with legislative requirements, collective agreements and evolving workforce trends.

Your responsibilities:

  • Lead and evolve modern HR operations and recruitment services focused on the leader and employee experience.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and drive process improvement and service optimization across HR programs, leveraging data, workforce insights and best practices.
  • Build, coach and empower a high‑performing HR team that delivers responsive, solution‑focused services aligned with organizational needs.
  • Provide expert guidance on complex employee relations matters, balancing risk, fairness, legislative compliance and organizational values.
  • Shape attraction, retention and workforce strategies that anticipate future skills, labour market trends and evolving ways of work.
  • Oversee recruitment and leadership hiring strategies that are efficient, equitable and focused on securing high‑impact talent.
  • Strengthen leader capability through targeted training, coaching and practical tools that enable confident people leadership.
  • Ensure HR strategies, policies and practices are integrated with corporate objectives and deliver measurable business value.
  • Work as part of a departmental and divisional leadership team to support our strategic focus on people and culture.

Your skills and experience:

  • University degree or diploma in Business Administration or Human Resources Management.
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation (required).
  • Asset designations include CEBS, CCP, or RPR.
  • Minimum seven years of progressively responsible HR experience, including recruitment, employee relations, labour relations and performance management.
  • Several years of people leadership experience, supported by leadership or supervisory training.
  • Experience with HR systems is essential; Workday experience is an asset.
  • Proven ability to build and lead high‑performing, engaged teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of HR practices, employment legislation, labour relations and organizational development.
  • Exceptional communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical, financial and project management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, navigate ambiguity and deliver results in a complex environment.

Salary:  $126,648 to $158,283 per annum

Successful candidate must reside in Alberta and be able to work in person from our Edmonton downtown office as required. Final candidates are required to undergo a security clearance as a condition of employment.
