GEICO is seeking an innovative Manager, Sponsorship & Community Activation to join our Sports & Experiential Marketing Center of Excellence. This role is responsible for translating our national and local sponsorship strategies into comprehensive, measurable activation plans that drive significant business impact. This role requires proven capability in influencing cross-functional marketing leads (business/product marketing, media, creative, analytics, operations) and managing complex league, team, and property relationships. The successful candidate will challenge existing processes and models to ensure that every partnership delivers maximum value.

Our department’s hybrid model is 3 days in the office per week, with flexibility. Marketing offices are in Bethesda, MD (greater DC) and Manhattan, NY. This role reports into the Sr. Manager, Sports & Experiential Marketing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic activation of sports sponsorships, ensuring clear metrics and attributable return on investment across the entire portfolio.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for our marketing, state management, and agent partners. Provide them with strategic playbooks and frameworks to seamlessly leverage assets
  • Serve as a sports evangelist – educate all facets of the business on sports strategies, audiences, trends, tactics, and results
  • Execute national partnership activations that reflect the enterprise brand strategy and resonate with target and fan audiences. Function as program manager for activations stretching from ideation to execution to measurement.
  • Optimize GEICO’s sponsorship portfolio – accounting for state growth objectives, business fluidity, segmentation, and pull-through from national partnerships
  • Build, govern, and scale a local sports marketing activation strategy. Architect the processes and frameworks that translate enterprise-level sports assets into scalable, measurable local market activation plans, ensuring maximum community impact and alignment with state-by-state lead generation targets
  • Oversee the development of clear, data-driven reporting that demonstrates the performance of sports sponsorship activation against LOB marketing objectives to executive leadership.
  • Manage and optimize seven-figure program budgets across integrated initiatives, ensuring strategic allocation to high-impact opportunities within the sports portfolio and to specific LOB/market campaigns.
  • Design and implement a hospitality strategy, encompassing internal stakeholder collaboration, program design, partner management, budget management, and measurement frameworks that optimize brand equity, stakeholder engagement and ROI.
  • Ideate, innovate, and pitch effective and differentiated activations that utilize integrated brand assets to shape the future of the GEICO brand

Key Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience across a combination of sports and experiential marketing – expertise across both traditional and non-traditional sports and event partnerships, with the ability to activate at both the local and national levels
  • Proven record of developing and executing successful, fully integrated large-scale experiences with significant market and consumer impact while staying on time and on-budget
  • Experience managing and partnering with external agencies and internal cross-functional partners across sports, experiential, media, analytics and creative
  • Experience reviewing creative for strategic alignment and brand consistency.
  • A detail-oriented individual with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Outstanding judgement – ability to know when to escalate issues in a timely and appropriate manner; strong desire to creatively problem solve; operates with a sense of personal and team accountability
  • Thrives in ambiguity and a fast-based marketing environment – previous positions in transformational organizations a plus
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to interpret and uncover actionable insights from performance results
  • Requires travel (25% of time) including occasional weekend travel and off-hour projects

Annual Salary

$109,675.00 - $172,200.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
