What is the Opportunity?

Assist Senior Manager, SLAS in providing MIS, Operational, Regulatory, Compliance and Accounting control support to Special Loans and Advisory Services. Position supports SLAS Directors located in Canada, USA and UK. Key responsibilities include assisting with data management of the credit risk operations of RBC’s global high-risk portfolio of relationship loans, investments and commercial portfolio in the P&CB, Capital Markets and Wealth Management to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the credit operations within regulatory and compliance requirements. Assistance provided is integral to the timely execution of the Group’s functional priorities and is expected to provide value-added input in an effort to support the overall group objectives.

What will you do?

Data Management

  • Assist with managing the integrity of the Team databases to analyze, forecast and report loan losses, Impaired Loans, allowances, Write-Offs, ODWO Recoveries, ACL and TVM to SLAS Executives and key stake holders of businesses, e.g. Risk Management, Accounting and Finance by providing monthly reports after month end and quarter end.
  • Compile Portfolio data on a semimonthly/monthly/quarterly and ad hoc basis for Risk Management, HO Accounting, Finance, IAS, Bank’s external auditors and Industry Groups, Operational and Environmental Risk as required ensuring accuracy of the data.

Financial Control and Reporting

  • Supports the financial control responsibilities relating to SLAS with the objective of delivering timely, accurate and reliable financial reporting of GIL, ACL, PCL and TVM calculations for P&CB, Capital Markets and Wealth Management portfolio under SLAS management.
  • On a monthly basis update CB and Capital Markets databases with current information on ACL, PCL, W/O, Recoveries; and on a quarterly basis for ACL, NAL, DLI, PCL TVM for processing entries to the Bank’s book of records timely and accurately.
  • First level reviewer of all ACU’s and ETR’s.
  • Ensure effective audit and internal control procedures are established, followed and monitored including quarterly excess management and compliance with all relevant RBC folio policies.
  • Efficiency, Standardization, and automation of various tools and processes
  • Provide support and testing on system upgrades
  • Develop tools to improve consistency of PCL calculation and presentation.

SLAS Team Support

  • Contribute to the overall success of the team, by providing ongoing training and system support on ACU’s and ETR’s.
  • Deliver work in accordance with established timelines and in compliance with RBC policies.
  • Assist with enterprise initiative while supporting the Senior Manager, SLAS in special initiatives and projects.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:

  • 7+ years of experience working in credit risk management, business processing centres, loans administration, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (manipulation of formulas, pivot tables, etc).
  • Working knowledge of Bank systems such as CCMS, Synergy, CMS, Newton, ACBS, etc.
  • Strong communication skills to liaison with stakeholders across the enterprise.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Self-driven and capable of managing multi-task and multi-direction environment.
