Active and existing security clearance required after day 1Do you want to lead a team of highly motivated engineers enabling the development and product transition of advanced military communications systems? We are looking for a Test Software Engineering Manager to lead our test engineering software team. As our SW test engineering leader, you’ll be working with the rest of our software and systems teams to transform next generation military communication capabilities from development to production.
You will be responsible for leading a team through the creation of advanced testing capabilities to support transition of our communication products into the factory. The team is involved in developing solutions for lab testing that will later be transformed into software ran in factory environments. Your contributions will be key from pursuit through release and maintenance of software tools including managing cost and schedule for the activities your team supports.
What You Will Do
Lead and Develop a High-Performing Engineering Team: Manage and mentor a team of engineers, from entry level to seasoned professionals. This includes hiring, staffing allocation, and fostering a culture of growth and collaboration.
Grow Talent and Foster Job Satisfaction: Support team members in their professional development goals and career aspirations at Collins Aerospace. Provide constructive performance feedback regularly and collaborate with employees on growth areas.
Collaborate Across Functions: Engage with engineers, engineering leadership, program managers, and shared service organizations to ensure seamless integration of products into the factory. Foster strong networking relationships with both, product development teams and factory production teams to support project success.
Champion Earlier Test Development: Advocate for starting software test solutions early in the process and increase reuse from early testing to factory test solutions.
Support Pursuit and Bidding Activities: Participate actively in pursuit activities, including bidding for new programs. Contribute technical expertise and strategic insights to strengthen proposals and secure new business opportunities.
Optimize Staffing and Program Management: Manage staffing levels across multiple programs to ensure alignment with project schedules and resource requirements. Utilize earned value management techniques to monitor and enhance program performance and profitability.
Ensure Compliance and Process Adherence: Uphold Collins' standards and procedures, ensuring all engineering activities comply with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and enhance operational effectiveness.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
Experience in all software development lifecycle stages from concept to factory transition
Qualifications We Prefer
Previous experience leading small engineering teams, experience with bidding, project planning, earned value management, and risk and opportunity management
Experience with the development of factory test stations and factory transition processes
Proficient with test equipment typically found in the factory such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc
Experience with Agile development concepts

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
