You will be working on a flexible hybrid schedule as part of Fidelity’s dynamic working arrangement.

The work location for this role is 483 Bay Street in Toronto until approximately late 2026, when the work location will change to the new Mississauga office at 3 Robert Speck Parkway.

Business Overview

The Manager, Software Development, Investly is a technical people leader responsible for guiding software developers, software quality specialists, or other technical people on the software development team. This role provides technical leadership across the Investly platform, ensuring that software architecture, development practices, and delivery processes support high-quality, secure, scalable, and user-centric digital experiences.

A key responsibility of this role is to shape and mature Investly’s software architecture, advance development best practices, and contribute to the evolution of the Software Development Life cycle. This leader will work closely with product, UX, analytics, business stakeholders, and external partners to ensure that technical decisions align with organizational goals while supporting performance, security, maintainability, and user experience.

What You Will Do

Drive the software development pipeline

  • Lead and evolve end-to-end software development processes, integrating discovery, design, analytics, and agile delivery workflows

  • Improve SDLC processes to support faster development through improved integration techniques, collaborative contribution methods, and improved tooling

  • Develop, mature, and scale the design development process, ensuring consistent application of software design and security principles

  • Establish and reinforce best practices across development, testing, automation, and cloud-first solution design

  • Manage project timelines, resource planning and prioritization to ensure successful, predictable delivery

  • Monitor progress, remove roadblock and adjust plans to adapt to changing priorities

Provide leadership and build team culture

  • Foster team growth and development through coaching, training and mentorship

  • Create a healthy team culture and ensure the team operates with shared values and effective communication norms

  • Provide technical guidance, architecture and direction to software developers, software quality specialists, and other technical people on the software development team

  • Engage employees in development conversations and provide support towards their development goals, with a focus on continuous learning and upskilling

  • Conduct annual goal setting by establishing clear and measurable goals, ensuring alignment and support of department strategy

  • Successfully execute end to end yearend performance review cycle

  • Drive employee engagement by supporting and promoting people programs and enabling Fidelity’s culture

Provide technical governance

  • Participate in architectural reviews, performance tuning, and technical risk assessments

  • Guide and maintain modern software architecture across backend, web, mobile, and cloud layers

  • Provide technical leadership across the Investly technology ecosystem

  • Partner with security and infrastructure teams to ensure applications are reliable, secure and compliant with organizational standards

  • Contribute to the evolution of the SDLC focusing on security, data governance, automation, architecture, and testing excellence

  • Promote best practices for documentation, maintainability and operations readiness

Communicate and report to stakeholders

  • Present complex technical information, project updates, risks and technical considerations to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior executives

  • Partner with product, UX, and business teams to translate requirements into scalable technical designs

  • Contribute to strategic planning and product development roadmap

  • Strong sense of user advocacy and experience working with cross-functional teams

  • Understanding of agile software development processes

  • Ability to inspire and motivate teams in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Experience, Education

  • University Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent work experience

  • 5+ years of software development experience, with at least 2 years in technical leadership or direct people management role.

  • Hands-on experience with backend, web, mobile, database, and cloud technologies.

  • Experience working with modern backend frameworks (e.g., Java/Spring Boot or similar), modern web frameworks (e.g., React or comparable), cross-platform mobile frameworks (e.g., React Native or similar), relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, and cloud environments such as AWS or comparable cloud provider

  • Strong background in software architecture, system design, and integration.

  • Expertise in development best practices across security, data governance, automation, testing, and cloud-native patterns.

  • Experience evolving SDLC or leading process improvements.

For this role, your total rewards include:

  • Base Salary and Discretionary Performance Bonus: A competitive annual range of $158,000 to $182,000, based on your experience and qualifications.

  • RRSP Contribution: After 6 months of employment, we invest in your future with an RRSP contribution—no employee matching required.
