About the Team

Workday Adaptive Planning, with a 7000+ customer base, is the only enterprise planning platform that gives every department, not just finance, the power to create multiple plans, the way it wants—and to roll it all up into one plan. The result? Connected models that are always in sync. This makes the complex planning process fast, smart and accurate.

The Evaluator team is the heart of the Planning application. We are constantly innovating ways to evaluate these complex n-dimensional models at speed and scale to match the growing complexity of financial planning.

About the Role

  • 8+ years experience in software development engineering, building, and scaling robust and efficient software systems using Java programing language.
  • 3+ years experience directly leading software development engineering teams, fostering high-performing and engaged teams focused on delivering high-quality software. 
  • Solid understanding of Decision Making processes in managing engineering teams and projects.
  • Good understanding of Engineering Leadership principles in leading and guiding technical teams.
  • Developing Influencing Skills to drive technical decisions and team alignment.
  • Understanding of Mentorship principles and experience in guiding and developing team members.
  • Strong understanding of People Management principles for leading a software development team and fostering a positive environment.
  • Solid understanding of Software Development principles relevant to managing technical teams and projects.
  • Good skills in delivering Technical Presentations to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Good understanding of Technical Project Management principles and experience in managing technical projects.
  • Good Understanding of Requirements and the ability to ensure team understanding and execution.

About You

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience building and directly managing impactful engineering teams
  • 8+ years of experience with design and development using an object-oriented language such as Java.
  • Bachelor's degree in a computer related field or equivalent work experience

  • You have a strong focus on delivering high-quality software products, continuous innovation, and you value test automation and performance engineering
  • You are proactive and able to deliver on initiatives that you start
  • You demonstrate the interpersonal skills needed to positively influence important issues or decisions in a multi-functional environment
  • You have the ability to communicate technical complexity in simple terms to both technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Experience supporting team members career growth and development
  • You put people first and ensure a psychologically safe environment for team members
  • Familiarity with AI based agentic coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor AI is a plus
