Job Summary
As the Manager, Situation Display Products, you will lead a specialized group of software engineers dedicated to developing and maintaining the primary visual interface user by Air Traffic Controllers in Canada and internationally. This is a mission-critical role where system reliability, real-time performance and human-factors integration are paramount. You will be responsible for the professional growth of your team, the execution of project milestones and ensuring that our display technology meets stringent aviation hand human factors standards.

In this role you will:
- People Leadership: Manage, mentor, and coach a team of software engineers. Conduct performance reviews, facilitate career development, and foster a collaborative, high-integrity engineering culture. This includes talent acquisition, onboarding and retention.
- Project Delivery: Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of situation display features, from requirements analysis and architectural design to deployment and maintenance.
- Technical Oversight: Provide guidance on real-time data visualization, graphics rendering, and UI/UX improvements specifically for high-stakes aviation environments.
- Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with Senior Management, Systems Engineering, Certification and Product Owners to align team deliverables with the broader organizational roadmap.
- Quality & Compliance: Ensure all team members follow the process and all team output adheres to rigorous safety-critical software standards (e.g., ED-109-A) and internal quality management systems.
- Financial and Resource Management: Track team utilization and project efforts to ensure alignment with organizational CAPEX/OPEX targets. Provide regular financial health updates to Senior Management and strategies to keep projects within approved funding limits.
What you bring:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent education and experience supplemented by some experience in Air Traffic Management Systems.
- Minimum of 8-10 years in software engineering with at least 2-3 years in formal leadership or a supervisory/team lead role
- Current and in-depth knowledge of rapidly evolving industry trends, computing and communications technology and products and services available in the Air Traffic Management community.
- Thorough knowledge and extensive experience in the development, testing, implementation and life cycle support of complex, safety critical Air Traffic Management systems.
- Knowledge and experience in management techniques and processes including business case analysis, project management, finance and human resources.
- Thorough knowledge and extensive experience in directing software projects by program planning, budgeting, preparing work plans, scheduling activities, setting priorities and assigning resources to meet objectives and deadlines.
- Good knowledge of procurement policies, tendering processes, proposal evaluations and contracting mechanisms.
- Knowledge and experience with talent acquisition, onboarding techniques and staff retention
- Knowledge of C/C++ and UI frameworks, UI design and experience used in complex HMI systems

Working Conditions:
- This position is a hybrid position with a minimum – 3 days per week on site.
