POSITION OVERVIEW
At BDC, the only bank dedicated exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs, this role plays a critical part in ensuring approved financing is disbursed securely, accurately, and on time. The Manager, Security and Disbursement is responsible for completing all due diligence and verification activities prior to loan disbursement, particularly for files involving external security structures. Working closely with clients, underwriters, business development teams, legal counsel, and financial partners, this role ensures disbursements comply with BDC policies while delivering a high‑quality client experience. Your work contributes directly to the success of small and medium‑sized businesses across Canada.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Approve, decline, or recommend loan disbursements within established authorization and risk parameters.
Coordinate with solicitors and other external legal parties; mandate, instruct, and ensure follow‑up to support timely disbursement.
Collaborate with other financial partners to coordinate disbursement activities.
Review letters of offer and related documentation (instructions, disbursements, amendments) to ensure accuracy, completeness, required conditions, and valid signatures.
Identify potential risks, issues, or gaps in files and proactively propose appropriate solutions to ensure overall risk is assessed correctly.
Process disbursement packages by completing thorough due diligence and applying sound account management practices.
Disburse authorized loans promptly in accordance with approved credit adjudication decisions and disbursement strategies.
Update authorizations, project costs, and disbursement strategies to reflect material changes and manage risk exposure.
Participate in the resolution of compliance issues or material changes arising during the disbursement process.
Maintain strong working relationships with business center personnel and internal partners to support teamwork and consistent application of policies.
Deliver an excellent customer experience by resolving basic client issues and escalating complex matters to senior team members when required.
Stay current on changes to policies, procedures, credit practices, and regulatory requirements that may impact BDC.
Operate effectively in a high‑volume, high‑pressure environment, managing urgent situations with accuracy and efficiency, while contributing to BDC’s inclusive and collaborative culture where you can be yourself at work.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required Qualifications
Three to five (3–5) years of experience in the financial industry or a related field.
Demonstrated knowledge of commercial lending processes.
Demonstrated knowledge of legal aspects related to security taking and loan disbursement.
Experience conducting due diligence and managing loan disbursement documentation.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks, issues, and solutions.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Strong business acumen and client‑focused approach.
Proven ability to manage priorities and meet critical deadlines in a high‑volume environment.
Demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to changing processes and priorities.
Ability to build effective working relationships with team members and stakeholders, including colleagues working remotely.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in commerce, business administration, accounting, or a closely related field
