Manager Regulatory Affairs

Reporting to the Senior Director Regulatory Affairs you will support the company in regulatory issues and opportunities. In this position you will help lead projects, programs and/or processes to ensure regulatory compliance and to leverage regulatory opportunities to the benefit of Conagra Brands. Work cross-functionally and communicate with all functional and operating groups on matters relating to regulatory topics of importance to the enterprise, including the development and implementation of strategic domestic and international regulatory initiatives. You will educate and influence, externally, and represent Conagra Brands in food safety and regulatory matters.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides regulatory leadership and collaborates with Marketing, Sales, R&D, FSQRA, Legal and Government Affairs, Procurement, plants and others to ensure regulatory compliance to protect human health, company and brand reputation and shareholder value.
  • Identifies opportunities to leverage regulations and give Conagra Brands a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
  • Provides regulatory guidance and answers compliance-related questions regarding new and reformulated product concepts.
  • Identifies and utilizes internal resources to address tactical regulatory topics.
  • Communicates cross functionally regarding current and emerging regulatory issues and opportunities and related impact on products and product technology.
  • Assists Regulatory Affairs management in establishing Conagra as respected leaders in the external regulatory environment.
  • Assists Regulatory Affairs management in implementing programs to improve efficiencies, speed and quality of regulatory responses and focus staff activities to meet departmental and business unit goals.
  • Provides training regarding new regulatory developments that have potential to impact ConAgra Foods businesses.
  • Maintains in depth state-of-the-art knowledge of FDA, USDA, and state-level regulations.
  • Provides leading support for traceability initiatives and regulations related to the same (e.g. FSMA 204, etc.) - works cross-functionally to help educate and influence internal data and technological streams to improve traceability functionality across Conagra's portfolio.
  • Takes lead in managing Conagra's PHIS systems to ensure establishment profiles remain up to date and other items are tracked (e.g. certificates, NRs, etc.)
  • Maintains a working knowledge of other regulatory frameworks, globally, that may impact Conagra (e.g. CFIA, EFSA, EPA, etc.)
  • Identifies, develops and maintains external network of experts who can be leveraged when challenging new regulatory compliance issues confront Conagra Brands.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Food Science, Nutrition or related field required - higher level degree a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of food industry regulatory experience.
  • Knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations and requirements
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability to lead and direct traceability initiatives
  • Ability to research regulatory issues and lead/influence resolution.
  • Proactive and goal oriented in driving business growth.
  • Demonstrated initiative and creativity.
  • Good knowledge of food product development and processes.
  • Good understanding of food safety and allergens.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, Adobe and SAP-PLM.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
  • This position is onsite Monday-Thursday.

Compensation: 

Pay Range:$107,000-$156,000

The annual salary listed above is the expected offering for this position. An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal Conagra employees’ equity. Conagra Brands will comply with applicable law regarding minimum salaries for exempt employees.
