What is the opportunity?

As a Manager, Project Portfolio Management & Strategy Execution, you will be responsible for supporting strategy deployment into the Project Portfolio, generating insights, and providing financial perspective to enable and propel Personal Banking forward through project investment decisions. Covering Personal Banking from your role within the COO group, you will have the opportunity to own key initiatives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, while working with a passionate and collaborative team to create an impact within the bank.

What will you do?

The role will consist of 3 pillars – Project Financial Insights, Project Portfolio Planning, and Strategy Execution.

Project Portfolio Plan

  • Conduct retro of previous Plans’ prioritization cycle with drive to automation and perspectives on improvement

  • Manage assessment of Plan’s contribution and connection to Horizon Plans, with insight on whether Strategic Outcomes set by OC are progressing as intended

  • Business casing of cross-functional projects and initiatives to support prioritization model’s ROI perspective

  • Play an active role in preparing investment plans, forecasts, multi-year outlooks, and other schedules as required. Collaborate, engage, and advise functional leaders in doing so. 

Project Financial Insights

  • Play active role in facilitating the organization’s analytical maturity and data driven decision-making muscles, monitoring & supporting investment pivots based on trends, reports and routines, while finding opportunities to develop additional insight tools

  • Contribute to ongoing monitoring, analysis, and reporting of the business outcomes from reports and executive discussions. The incumbent will need to recognize trends, determine strategy effectiveness, and provide recommendations for further enhancements.

  • Reduced reactivity to trends by automating reporting to proactively develop insights from MIS/Planview

Strategy Execution

  • Support cross-functional connectivity of the Portfolio Investments to the PB Strategy, LOB Strategy, BPRs etc.

  • Participate in competitive landscape assessment to drive both short-term and long-term business strategy alignment

  • Synthesize findings from research and data analysis to formulate perspective on key strategic initiatives  

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:

  • 2-3 years of experience with a focus on consulting, strategy, or related roles

  • Ability to generate and drive momentum and bring tasks to completion in short time frames.

  • Experience in the Canadian banking or financial services industry.

  • Strong proficiency in excel - must have the ability to use a wide array of formulas to derive insights from data in an organized and logical manner

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to synthesize complex data and draw actionable insights.

  • Proficient in financial analysis, business modeling, and strategic planning

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think critically and creatively to solve complex business problems.

  • Exception written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas and concept clearly and concisely.

Nice to Have:

  • Previous experience with Planview Administration and configuration or similar tools

  • Data, financial and business casing analysis

  • Knowledge of RBC Planning, Portfolio and Project tools

  • Working experience with relevant and standard desktop software (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, etc.)

  • Undergraduate degree in Business/ Technology along with advanced critical thinking and analytical skills to support executive management decision-making.

  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations.

  • Forward looking with holistic approach

  • Experience with large scale organizational change efforts
