We are looking for a Manager Project & Manufacturing Engineering to manage the Product Manufacturing Engineering Team by planning resources, enabling processes, and defining targets to ensure team success. This includes achieving time-, quality- and cost-efficient completion of design and manufacturing transfer projects in collaboration with other stakeholders (Development, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Finance, Suppliers, Sending and Receiving Facilities, and others).

What will you be doing?

Main Tasks

  • Manage the Product Manufacturing Engineering Team responsible for design/manufacturing transfers, internal manufacturing projects, and change management at Smith & Nephew Manufacturing AG
  • Plan resources and establish processes
  • Oversee and control transfer and manufacturing engineering projects within defined time, quality, and cost boundaries
  • Provide technical guidance to employees
  • Define and enable processes for design and manufacturing transfer activities
  • Assess and onboard manufacturing transfers, design transfers, quality projects, and productivity projects
  • Manage the goals, objectives, and professional development of Product Manufacturing Engineers
  • Lead or support technology or quality improvement initiatives
  • Act as an authorized signatory for reviewing technical documents related to product and process development at the site

Supplementary Tasks

  • Provide engineering consulting for changes and quality issues in manufacturing, quality, and supplier management
  • Represent the area of responsibility in internal and external audits
  • Act as Deputy to the Manufacturing Engineering Director

What will you need to be successful?

  • University degree or HF diploma in a technical or scientific field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management or product industrialization
  • Strong knowledge of quality control, risk mitigation, and statistical process control techniques
  • Excellent analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and capacity to develop long-term solutions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to write documentation/reports in English
